Anyone else watching The Fifth Element?
I just adore Gary Oldman. This character (Zorg) has got to be one of his best roles!

5. Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg
"The ZF1! It's light, handles adjustable for easy carrying. Good for both righties and lefties. Breaks down into four parts, undetectable by x-ray. Ideal for quick, discreet interventions. A word on firepower. Titanium recharger. 3,000 round clip with bursts of 3 to 300. With a replay button, another Zorg invention, its even easier. One shot and replay sends every following shot to the same location. And to finish the job, all Zorg oldies but goldies. Rocket launcher. Arrow launcher with explosive poisonous gas heads. Our famous net launcher. The always efficient flame thrower. My favorite. And for the grand finale, the all new ice cube system."

6. I'm not now, no - but I watch it occasionally. Fucking brilliant film!
And I mean that in all seriousness.

It is a truly stellar and excellent film, with phenomenal presence from all involved - Bruce Willis, Chris Rock, Gary Oldman, the foreign chick, the guy who plays Bruce Willis' commanding officer, Ian Holm... pure perfection.

One of my all-time favorite movies.

Shit, now I might need to sit down, turn off Buffy, and watch it.

And yes, the character of Zorg is one of the best bad guys ever written, and Oldman plays him so PERFECTLY... I put him up there with Jonathon Pryce playing Elliot Carver in "Tomorrow Never Dies", who is perhaps my favorite villain in terms of performance after Zog and Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal and Ian McDiarmid as Emperor Palpatine.

It took me about 6 months before I knew. :)

It's Chris Tucker as Ruby Rhod, not Chris Rock.

24. That's what I meant, then.
I always get them confused.

People in Hollywood should not be allowed to have similar names.

Nor should there ever be more than one "Sarah (name) (name)". It's goddamn confusing.

19. Luc Besson did a perfect job of exploring the style of Jean Giraud
Jean Giraud (Moebius) wrote the most fantastic comic stories for the early Heavy Metal magazine. When you watch The Fifth Element you see the Moebius design style faithfully used. I've never found out if they knew each other or not, or how much Giraud had to do with designing Element, but I KNOW that style!

(Anybody remember The Airtight Garage Of Jerry Cornelius?)

I was actually going to watch it this evening, but got distracted by a showing of Jacob's Ladder (Tim Robbins). Now that it's over I may just pop the dvd in! It's a superior science fiction movie, and a great love story.
