Recap your day:
Woke up early, took Ruby to city-wide Easter egg hunt. It was divided by age: Ruby was in the 5-8 yr old section. The area was roped off with police tape; when they lift it, it was like a Who concert...kids were dropping like files (no injuries, except to pride ;)). I laugh my ass off. Parents make way up enormous hillside to tail their children...I get left behind with the other wheezing smoking parents.

Went running around with hedges to old haunts we hadn't been to since returning to Milwaukee while eyesroll and her SO watched Ruby and his daughter. Bought dad a hunk of World Champion 4 yr old Wisconsin cheddar for his b'day.

Come home to find dog has eaten sofa. eyesroll and gang deposit children here so they can get some moving done. Highpoint: H (eyesroll's SO's daughter) runs into room, red faced from running and playing, says "I don't have a head anymore!" to which Ruby replies "YAY!! Now I can have all of your hats!!" :wtf:

Small child that doesn't belong to me goes home. Wine is consumed. Pasta salad is gorged upon. Friends visit. Dogs pass out. hedges passes out on lap. dolo fights sleeping at 10:30 as she'll be up at 5am if she does so.

'Twas a good day. :toast:

1. cat to vet to have stitches removed from prior surgery,
then weighed in at WW but missed the meeting part. Then grabbed a coffee at the Beanery, stopped at the bank, went to the Dodge place and had my oil changed, then got back to WW in time to actually go to the meeting, came home, did some laundry, did some posting here, talked to husband on phone for a while, petted my cats, read, ate some leftovers, Naired my legs, took a shower, went to the nail shop for a manicure and pedicure, stopped at Borders, came home, watched "Last of the Summer Wine" and ate a little sandwich and now I am here. Going to bed in a few.

5. Up at 8am
to receive supplies from medical supply company at 9pm. Ate breakfast, I HATE breakfast unless someone else cooks it for me or we go out. That seldom happens, the going out part. The cooking for me never happens.
Made lunch/dinner for my husband and me and saw him off to work. Tidied up the house a bit, read for about 1/2 hour and slept for 1.5 hours or so. (I was SO tired from doing nothing I guess). Made some coffee and a really good sandwich for my supper. Grilled colby cheese, turkey and bacon, yummm.
Puttered around a bit, talked to my Dad on the phone. Read and posted on DU. I've just had a shower, being as I was off the TPN line for a couple of hours. Hooked up again, listening to Dr Hook and waiting for my husband to get home from work.

exciting eh?

9. I got up, got showered and dressed,
checked my email, talked to my sister on the phone and then LeftyKid and I went to trader joes and the food co-op, then we dropped off the groceries at home and went to get a refund on my Costco membership. The girl behind the counter asked why and I tried to explain about the seal oil they sell and the boycott (details in my journal.) She seemed like she was trying to listen and understand, but I got the impression that she wasn't very bright.

I got my refund and came home. My Dad and I went to look at the work the contractors redoing his bedroom and bath had done, and come back into the rest of the house to discover the front door open and my son gone. After a few frantic minutes of looking a neighbor girl informed me that he was swimming naked in thier pool. I was both pissed off and relieved. That kid worries me.

So we came inside, I made dinner and he's confined to his room for the remainder of the evening.

thanks for the laugh! Your son sounds like quite a character.

Congratulations and good for you for getting your Costco refunded. It feels good to stand up for something doesn't it? More people need to take a stand on MANY issues :applause:

I tell myself that if he's this persistent about getting into trouble now, he'll be just as persistent about important things when he's grown.

Besides, nobody can stay mad at a face like this:

My son (now 23, where does the time go?)was never a follower and always questioned everything under the sun. He could argue till the cows came home. I thought he'd make a great lawyer someday.

He and his fiance are expecting MY first grand baby ANYTIME! I can't believe he has grown up and is going to be a father!

Cherish your boy and his persistence!!

16. Woke up
Edited on Sun Apr-09-06 01:31 AM by Kali
(this is important - just started sleeping better)

Husband had to run to town for some elecrolyte for the dogie calf in the yard - she has a touch of diarhea. Had a "serving" for last night but need to feed that for a couple days before going back on milk.

Then off to the Amerind Museum to see Spencer McCallum and a couple of the potters from Mata Otiz, Armando and Manolo Rodriguez (and their families). Also meeting us there were a dear friend from Germany and her daughter (who lives here now) and my sister and her fiance. It was a good visit, and I finally got a book to the directer of the museum that I had been holding for over a year. (It was a pottery book done by another German friend containing mostly photos of her work, but also some cultural photos of human figures in ceramic from around the world, including - here is the wierd circle - prehistoric Casas Grandes figuines in the Amerind's collection, photographed for the book by my sister.- there are even more odd conections, but that is another story)

Armando makes pottery for a living so he can buy good horses and cows, his first love. He has some really nice horses. There were a lot of retired folks there buying up the pots at a good pace, I think the family made some good money today. I got into helping explain the process during Armando's demonstration because I have seen it so many times (and have even done it two or three) It was a nice change of pace.

Came back home around 3 and checked on a cow that is "down". She may have been hit by a car, but she made it at least 2 miles home before she lay down. She has a little skinned up spot on her hip but nothing looks broken, she is just kind of weak in her back end and can't get up. Her appetite is fine, so we will watch her for a few days, make sure she is turning side to side and see if she feels like getting up after she has had a rest and some primo hay.

Tried to do some paperwork but it was just too nice of a day, so went wandering around with the one of the dogs for a while before coming back for a short siesta, too late in the day, but hey...I can, so I did. Dinner was pork ribs, cole slaw, corn and some buttered noodles. I am ready to go to sleep again. Just need to finish a bite more of the chocolate my German freind brought mmmmm

None of my photos from today came out but here is Julio Mora, who I am pretty sure is Armando's wife's brother. They are related somehow. Taken last October.

How was that for a long rambling reply full of references not very many people have the slightes clue or interest about? I think I may have had too much sun today.

Edit to add: I have NO idea why that picture is so big, I have posted it before and it was fine, I REALLY have no idea why the writing goes way off to the right of the screen, did I hit some wrong key somewhere?

17. Lots of fun
I got to sleep in...didn't get up until almost 8:30. Then cleaned the refrigerator (wrecked my nails in the process, damn it). Then went grocery shopping. Did three loads of laundry and cleaned the kitchen (it was kinda messy after the refrigerator business). Watched my Cubbies beat St. Louis and then went to work.

Worked a bit. Okay...worked my little fingers to the bone.

Now I'm getting ready to go home and go to bed.

19. Wow, that sounds a lot like my day,
except insert "actually getting some moving done" and "watching H in the 1-4 year old section, which was just a giant egg-laden mud pit."

(BTW: H can also be called 'dyskeptikid,' after her dad's blog name.)

20. Got up reasonably early and got some things donn around house
Got cleaned up and took my son to work. Went to the fundraiser "Lunch w/ the Easter Bunny" and worked that until 2:30. Went to the mall and picked out a cute skirt and top for Easter (something that I'll be able to wear to work too--yep, I'm actually going to show my legs) and then came home and did pretty much nothing. (Microwaved a frozen dinner for supper, watched the NCAA hockey game, played a bit on the computer)
