Poll question: Favorite Andy Griffith Show character?
Good day for sitcom memories; here is one of the best. Kind of think I know who will win, but let's see. The black and white years (best years) only, thank you. With apologies to Rafe Hollister, Mayors Pike and Stoner, Clara Edwards, Thelma Lou and the rest of the gang (feel free to vote "Other"). Don't forget to tell why!

7. Dad
I had to vote for Andy, I grew up wanting him to be my Dad. Same with Father Knows Best. Oh, those TV sitcoms with their perfect parents! Were they good or bad for kids in weird families? I don't know.

8. So many "children" of TV dads had real-life troubles
It's amazing all the kids on sitcoms who had problems in real life. Obviously, Ron Howard (Opie) wasn't one of them. The affection on the show seemed genuine. Guess Aunt Bee (Francis Bavier) was hard to work with, though. She was great in the part, however.

9. Child actors
I think they have it tough. They are acting but are children who don't have the same skills in understanding reality that an adult might have. Yes, I liked Aunt Bea and really all those small town characters on Andy Griffith.

19. I'm in the minority voting for Andy.
He's the solid, dependable leader. I mean, come on! He would get the job done when Barney screwed up and then have the compassion to give Barney the credit.

Maybe I just liked Matlock... I dunno.
