Biking? Going for a nice long walk? Reading by the lake?

Nope.

Putting contents of house into boxes.
Loading them into the car.
Driving the car 8.5 miles south.
Unloading the boxes from the car.
Unloading the contents of said boxes.
Reloading the empty boxes into the car.
Driving the car 8.5 miles north.
Unloading the empty boxes from the car.

Repeat.

Grr.

1. Moving is hell
but after all the complaining I've seen you doing *and rightfully so*, isn't it nice to get the hell outta there?

3. There is that, yes. :D
I wish I'd moved last week -- the weather was so-so and cool.

I think we can add this to my list of why I think the universe has a sense of humor -- give me a great weather week and I'm stuck shuttling boxes back and forth,

2. Such is life.
If we could remember what a pain in the ass it was to move, we'd never move again.

8. I don't know how I accumulate this much crap, either.
I got rid of a lot the last time, and I'm getting rid of a lot this time, and there's still tons of it.

5. Blessedly, I am having movers...
but the endless packing is one pain in the arse.

Good luck! Three weeks from yesterday for me.

7. Good luck to you too!
I'm paying movers to move the heavy stuff, but the packing is annoying, and if I pay them to move boxes, I need to get a lot more boxes, and I need to wrap everything very well. I can just stick sheets of old phone books between plates and hope for the best if I'm car-moving. (And so far, in the last two moves, when I've half-assedly packed the fragile stuff, I've only broken one champagne flute -- and that's only because I didn't realize there was one more in the box.)

9. I am moving some stuff myself....
Or else family is. The computer. Immediate survival stuff. My faux Tiffany lamps. The phones even though it'll be two days until I get hooked up, but I want them there and found.

Ugh. Good luck!

10. I was able to get my kitchen halfway set up today, which is nice.
The "pantry" section of the cabinets is as organized as it'll ever be...

11. Nice....
I don't get possession until the afternoon of the day before I move. And the closing is way out in Downers Grove, then I go back Forest Park, then back to the Far North Side to be ready for the movers at 8:30 on Saturday. It is going to be a long few days. I am taking time off work, of course.

Though I may be in trouble. There is a Bed, Bath & Beyond two blocks away. :scared:

12. Good luck with that!
I need to hit BB&B or something soon...we have very few needs (combining two fully functional households into one has that effect), but we need a coat rack, shower curtain (and rings that actually work; mine don't), clothes rack or one of those "extra closet" dealies for the basement, spice-rack inserts for the drawers and a hanging lamp (the one my dad offered to loan me is...how do I put this...hideous).

13. I find that I am in need of stuff to replace old stuff....
Bought a new kitchen trash can last week, because the old one is gross. Same with a few other items. Also bought a waste basket because I will now have two bathrooms vs. one and need said item for both. Plus a paper towel holder since the one affixed to the wall stays with the house.

Tonight, looking at the boring beige dishpan and drainer (and thinking about the sexy black appliances in the condo...) I am entertaining the thought of a black dishpan, etc. to harominze.

Also not certain what color bath mats I want...certainly not the old worn out thing that serves me now.

Did I mention that I bought a bunch of new lamps to replace old semi-broken ones? Then there will be new dining room furniture since the old was FAR too big and so was sold. So damn much to think about...so little time.

I hope your move goes well. :hi:

14. If you think you're missing out because the sun is shining
try doing all that shit in the rain. Good weather makes any crappy job better (unless it's an indors crappy job)
