Rickity, my black Siamese, is driving me INSANE...
Edited on Mon Apr-10-06 09:18 AM by elehhhhna
He drops his toy on the desk here (in the loft, home office) and YELLS until I toss it down to the first floor. Then he runs down, grabs it, and runs back up to drop it on me again. We're on toss number 20 something this morning. Will he EVER get tired? Oh heck here he is again...

3. How wonderful that is, he learned a new way to play
My oldephart gets three tennis balls and shoves them under a narrow dresser, then pushes them along till they come out the other side. Keeps him busy for about an hour.

5. Aren't Siamese A Pretty VOCAL Breed?
Every Siamese cat I've ever come in conctact with has been one of those cats that just never stops meowing.

Is that a normal thing for that breed?? ... or is it just coincidence that the Siamese cats I know constantly "talk" for no apparent reason.

12. Yes, they're talkative -- it seems the lighter the color the more so...
My poor baby Joe was almost all white and he Never shut up.

17. i've found that it depends on the cat
growing up we had two different seal point toms...very mellow, rarely said anything

now, my bf has two part siamese who NEVER EVER shut up. i've never had cats that make me crazy, but these two...i get the nearly irresistible urge to toss them out a window. of course, they were also weaned at like three or four weeks, so they are that much worse

6. I, too, have a retriever cat.
Edited on Mon Apr-10-06 10:53 AM by ocelot
Except that Milo prefers to play the game at night, after I've gone to bed. He waits until the lights are out, preferably as I am about to fall asleep, then jumps up, drops his little cat spit-soaked sparkly ball on my face, and yells "Mreeee!" until I toss the ball. He brings it back; I throw it. And again, and again, and again.... He is relentless.

And he's not even Siamese; he's a big, fluffy orange and white cat who talks *all the time.*

9. Sally, our border collie-heeler would like to wake up at 6:00 am to herd
sheep. However, since we don't have sheep, she wakes up at 6:00 am and carefully places her slimy red ball (or a tennis ball, or a chunk of a tennis ball she has previously disssected) on my husband's or my chest ,shoulder, or back. Then she stares at us until someone moves. Her body is tense with focus and anticipation. If we throw it she brings it back agian and again until we stop. If we pretend we're sleeping, she either goes back to her bed, curls up on our bed, or barks very loudy, depending on the intensity of her need to"work"! (Herding dogs need to work)

10. Obviously you need to get some sheep.
But I don't think that remedy will help me with the cat. He doesn't need to work; he just needs to pester me at night.

16. Makes no difference. He has dozens of toys; he has another cat
Edited on Mon Apr-10-06 12:49 PM by ocelot
to play with (they dash all through the house, thumping and shrieking); we play all the time. Milo has a bunch of little sparkly balls, one of those round toys with a ball inside, three scratching posts, a Cat Dancer, a wand with feathers, and a whole lot of milk bottle caps. He should be worn out. But I think he forces himself to stay awake at night for the sole purpose of tormenting me.

drop everything to give his majesty your undivided attention or get him another cat to boss around. (former siamese owner)

18. With Tate, its the Pink Sisal Toy with Green Tail

Tate's butt and The Toy

Tate

When Tate demands attention, he brings The Toy. Though he has many, many, toys, this one is THE Toy. The "I do not care what you are doing, I do not care what time it is - you will absolutely give me your undivided attention and play with me!" toy. When he is in this mode, we call him "The Taternator."

"Listen. And understand. That Taternator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you play with him."
