Shakey's Pizza was a chain in the early-mid 70s and they had the best shrimp pizza. I don't know what they did different than what I've tried to do, but I've never been able to replicate it.

25. I always liked Shakey's

It was dark inside, and the kind of place where your parents could drink beer while the kids ate pizza, watched old movies and played primitive video games. I don't really remember the pizza much though.

I will get some on my pizza. I am so salt sensitive a little anchovy goes a long way. :-) But I won't refuse them, or make it a deal-breaker when people order in groups.

That and Canadian bacon were the most popular toppings, but I never made it a priority. I liked that one chain calls a 1/2 pepperoni, 1/2 CB & Pineapple pizza a "Perfect Pizza", as if it must settle major disputes. :-)

Sounds boring, I know -- but I dig the taste of a really well-made basic pizza *so* much that I don't like anything else to get in the way.

But it's even better if you add jalapenos too.

Unfortunately I don't get pepperoni pizza much anymore with my diet. There's a place here in Austin that makes wonderful pizza with chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, onions, and basil. Yummier than I thought it sounded at first.

And the only place in the whole world that cooks the sausage just right on their pizza is One Guy From Italy in Lubbock, TX.

32. Best Pizza I Ever Had

was a white clam pizza in Pepe's in New Haven CT. Just clams, olive oil, fresh garlic, a little basil and grated cheese (no mozzarella). Love that place.
