A fire Sunday at a Scottdale tire shop could have been a disaster, officials said.

The basement of the Dom Mongell Tire Shop sustained major damage, but had the rest of it gone up in flames, it could have taken out an entire city block, Channel 4 Action News reporter Jennifer Miele said.

The suspects got away with three candy bars from a vending machine.

Jim Mongell found the wrappers from two Reese's peanut butter cups and a Butterfinger on the floor.
