get involved.
you can to all kinds of work for any campaign you like.
leafletting, phone calls, running errands.
might be grunt work without any glory or thanks but you can boost your candidate with stuff like that more than the guy whose only involvement is to go and vote, then go home and back to bed.
write letters to editors -- tell them how young you are, editors love letters from young readers.....keep thinking, keep acting.

I'm Neil, 19 years old. I live in East Texas. I really have no concrete political position, other than I utterly despise George W. Bush and the Republican party and will vote for anyone who challenges him. That, and I am committed to the old school liberalism of FDR, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson, which means I am of the belief that government can help solve major social problems. Ergo, I dislike the anti-"big government" ideas of Reagan and the Neocons (I think it's absolute bullshit). I believe in a strong national defense, not offense, and I think this can be accomplished through limiting our worldwide presence and focusing on securing our borders. That's probably more about my politics than was necessary.

I will be transferring to Texas State University to pursue a degree in History. My other intellectual interests include philosophy and philosophy of religion. My hobbies are playing guitar and record collecting. That's me.

I can't say how wonderful it is to see so many young (as in, under 30) men who are members of this board! Hi, my name is Interrobang, and I'm your friendly neighbourhood rhetorician (with an evil twin, Eva the Oberstgrammarfuhrer, jawohl!). I hail from London, Ontario, Canada, so I'm not a partisan Democrat, but a sympathetic fellow-traveller. (Hey, speaking as a leftist Canadian, US leftists are my *best friends,* whether I want you to be or not...so I might as well make nicey-nicey.) I don't like Bush because he's bad news for the whole world, let alone just the US.

I eat meat (my brain keeps insisting that tofu is egg, and that's bad) but not dairy products or eggs (I'm allergic), I like beef and practically every other product that comes from a cow except milk (mmm, leather), and I make a mean batch of chicken soup. :)

I'm yet another atheist, but I like to keep informed about religion. I studied the Bible quite extensively in the past, and now I'm learning about Judaism, although I haven't found a good English Torah translation yet, and my tiny little bit of Hebrew is SO not up to the task. I think my fiance (Jewish agnostic) is trying to turn me into a convert, but I don't think I'm good giyoret material! :)

I like cats, horses, and dogs. I speak one language fluently, two more competently, and I have bits and fragments of three more beyond that (English; French and Spanish; Japanese, Yiddish, and Hebrew respectively). I'm a medieval enthusiast (SCA member), and a published author (one of many here on DU), with three short stories, two poems, and a couple of articles to my credit so far.
