Over the past several months, there have been at least 4 different occasions where I needed crushed or diced tomatoes and all I can find are 20+ small cans of tomato paste! in gallon jugs in the cellar. We have lost power so many times and the issue has never been food, or heat, or medicine or entertainment....the only issue has been the toilet.
Everytime I buy a jug of bottled water, I fill it up and store it downstairs.

I think I may have some type of illness. And yes I am exaggerating, but I bet I have at least 50 gallons on hand.

31. I was just thinking about this today.

All this talk about nuking Iran has made me wonder once more if I need a stockpile and an escape plan. I accidently wandered onto a message board last weekend that encouraged everyone to have monthly "preps"--stuff that one would need in an emergency. Each month you add a little more so that you don't have to buy everything at once. I live in the city but have access to family property out in the middle of nowhere about an hour from here. It would be a good place to crash if something happened in the city, but I have no supplies other than my truck to live out of.

As for me, right now I keep a pretty full pantry of canned goods and some stuff in the freezer. Even though I live alone, you never know when something might happen or you run out of money before payday. And after my last bout of unemployment, I have a thing about running out of anything--it's kinda obsessive. When I use something, it gets replaced immediately. But as for water and that kind of thing, I don't have anything saved up other than some water to use to flush the toliets if the water goes out.

I think I might start collecting some stuff--it wouldn't hurt, that's for sure. I also plan to start stashing a little cash, just in case.
