Word of the day: Rim Flooding

If the amount of water going into the lake exceeds the amount going out (via the flood control dam at cash creek) you have what you call "rim land flooding." The lake overflows. And unlike a river which quickly recedes, a lake doesn't recede and the flooding can linger for weeks if not months.

That's what we're going to have up in Northern Cal (Clear Lake in Mendocino County, an ancient lake and is not man-made)
