OK sorry. My wife has been saying it for weeks, but I'm on board now. Kelly Pickler is faking being dumb. She doesn't know what "on paper" means, but then uses the word terminology? I don't think so.

I lived in NC for 17 years, dated girls and had friends who lived in small towns like Albemarle... I have known Kellies. She cracks me up. I also think she's an okay singer with a nice reedy sound -- and a year of lessons would make her a great singer... but please, let the finals be Chris and Katherine!!!

Of course, I have that crush on Katharine, and I think her voice does have personality. Some notes on the song tonight were a bit big for her, but I just think she has the most distinctive voice. I love it.

I think I'd like to see Taylor vs. Katharine the most.

33. Nope -- one trick pony -- a belter
NEVER heard her actually "sing," ie subtlety... and this was before the homophobia surfaced. After that -- forget it. I don't root for hatemongers... I get enough of that in real life.

There have been much better "diva" types on the show every season, imo. However, rumor has it she has several gospel contract offers.

She did show subtlety on "Cry." She has a powerful voice and wished to use it. Apparently, with the comment on gays, she says she hates no one. But that's not convincing. Not defending her on this.

104. I think Mandisa contributed to her downfall
I, too lamented her early disappearance. I thought, giving her background she had the most promise.

But as I read about her 'lifestyle' statement (I missed her statement a couple of wks ago) along with her admiration for an anti-gay actvist, I rhought, OMG, she really did it to herself, maybe she wanted out????

An up and coming musician, IMHO, is not in the position to make some serious race, religious, political or sexual statements unless they have a Teflon career path...

In both interviews and through her actions on the elimination shows. I also think they shouldn't let kids that young in the competition.

THis is the Lounge and a talent show -- we're allowed to like or dislike people (note the Ace and Pickler comments).

83. Elliot's become a sort of "victim of heightened expectations" -
He set the bar for himself so high early on that if he doesn't deliver a "Moody's Mood" type performance each week, people are quick to post "HE SUCKED DONKEY BALLS!" Then you hear his performance clip in relation to the others, and realize he was nowhere near the bottom of the pile...the guy's such an awesome talent, and I'd just like to see him get as far as he can in this competition without actually winning, so he can then do the kind of music HE wants to do! Not locked into the 19Evil slave contract...

90. That is so true!
Kellie benefits from just the opposite. People thought she was going to totally suck on Bohemian Rhapsody and because she actually came out on the stage then people say she wasn't *that* bad.

Elliott actually sings difficult melodies and to ears that are not accustomed to hearing actual singing it probably sounds off. This competition needs somebody like Elliott-- I hope he goes far.

100. I just posted the same thing myself about Kellie in the Pickler thread!
Elliott's fans seem to be the type to look beyond superficialities, and acknowledge true talent when it's there in front of them... Clearly, the powers aren't going to allow Elliott to win, but to make it this far is a kind of victory in itself, and he might benefit the most career-wise if he somehow miraculously ended up finishing in 2nd overall to Pickler in the end...

58. I've never felt the Taylor love
I think he's very good at what he does... but I'll take Chris.

Chris also has such an "awwwww" back story...

65. Okay....
Basically, worked retail... but married a woman a bit older than him with kids, who he adopted. I know it just sounds "meh" reading it... but if you watched the taped feature... it was really, truly sweet. And how his wife supported him...

99. Chris's wife
She had an emergency hysterectomy a month or two ago but she told him not to worry about her because she had plenty of support back home.

Traylor reminds me of someone singing with Turrets syndrome. I am sorry if I am pissing anyone off.

64. Paris up last......
Hope without all the background noise. Methinks Queen needs to be acapella for this venue. Probably why I'm so annoyed :silly:

66. When I saw that was going to be the theme,
it was almost enough to make me watch. Almost.

I'm definitely not a reality show snob - I do watch Survivor, Amazing Race, and Project Runway - but I can't stand most pop music.

82. Ok - comments on each
This was definitely the best week of the past three for me.

Ace Young: Just terrible. There was no energy. The song is not hard to sing, and he still went off-key. A performance that will taint his future performances. He rocked no one. 2/10 (that's generous)

Bucky Covington: His best performance in a while. Aside from a few harsh notes, he had a feel for making it country rock. 9/10

Chris Daughtry: A bit overdone. He still should get a lot of votes. 7/10

Elliott Yamin: What can I say? I just don't care for him. 5/10

Katharine McPhee: Another good performance. Though I thought she sounded exciting practicing for what was her original song choice - maybe she should have gone with it. 8/10

Kellie Pickler: A little cutesy on the soft part, but the rocky part was surprisingly good. 7/10

Paris Bennett: Either a like it or dislike it kind of thing. I enjoyed it and thought it was creative. 8/10

Taylor Hicks: He was on tonight! When he's really on, he beats all the males there. 10/10

93. F that
They're all shit.

You listen to nothing but "Idolers" and you don't realize how absolutely shit they really are. Then you listen to someone who CAN sing, and it's like a slap upside the head.

Fuck "Idol". Test the Divine Strike on their ass.

I enjoy Idol and see talent. I watch Idol and listen to many kinds of music. I accept your opinion, even though it's your loss IMO. :hi:

103. I predict Ace is going home
at least I hope so.

Queen is one of my all time favorite bands, I was glad Katherine switched her song, that was one of my favorite songs and I think she did a respectable job.

I think Taylor did good too, and as much as I don't like Paris, I think she did good enough.

Elliot is my favorite, but he didn't do that great tonight.

105. AI is not a musician's show
I kind of cringed when I learned it was a Queen night. And I was kind of lukewarm at the whole show. Elliot and Chris were the brightest stars, Katharine and Paris were probably the best of the women.

Taylor was the showman but I was not impressed...

Call me cold-blooded, but I'd agree withe Simon most of the time.

I think Paris is getting booted tomorrow -- even after the 10 calls I made on her behalf! But as I said AI is not a musician's show.
