On a scale from 1 to 10, how wrong is it to hang out with your professor?

6. 9 times out of 10, I'd say it's a bad idea |

as long as the university doesn't have any rules against it I'd say live as you want to live.

if he is single. Wrong if he is married. Keep it to groups. (i.e., don't be alone together) He could get in shitloads of trouble.
If you two are really interested, wait til the semester is over.

I was friends with a few of my professors. It's probably not a good idea to sleep with them, but hanging out is fine.

|
while it may not be against any formal policy, it's not a good idea. Maybe after he's no longer your prof, but while there still is a grade to be given...
I was married to a faculty member for years. Out of class relationships can have far-reaching effects...
