There used to be a show on British TV called "Exploitica", which basically took early exploitation/propaganda fare and techicolour Euro-madess (
The Ringing Singing Tree & its ilk) and redub the voices, add thought balloons or do pop-up-video style captions. Needless to say, I like it a lot.
They featured
Reefer Madness a few times and it looked wonderfully over-the-top and hysterical, so I was thrilled to get to see it in full last year. All in, it's a bit of a let down, but it's still a wonderfully entertaining film. I've got my eye on the special edition DVD with commentary from Mike Nelson (MST3K). I also want "Cocaine Fiends"
I ordered the
Sex & Buttered Popcorn boxset last week for just over a tenner, although it's yet to arrive. Looks very cool:

Sex And Buttered PopcornThe hilarious true story of Hollywood's underbelly...the exploitation films, as told in rare film clips and interviews with the original purveyors of passion! "Uncut! Uncensored! Unashamed!" proclaimed these Hollywood Roadshowmen. They sold sex and sin, sugar frosted with salvation, the latter making it permissible to cater to the forbidden and frowned-upon appetites of middle America. All across our heartland one and two nights of naughty titillation were offered as exposés and insights. SEX AND BUTTERED POPCORN is an affectionate peek at an era of American motion picture-making which had its roots in the tanbark and tinsel of the traveling carnival and which flourished from the twenties through the fifties.
