About two years ago I was in a restaurant about to have a chicken tortilla salad, and I flashed on an image of hens stacked to the roof in a semi going down the road to their death and I started to cry, couldn't eat my dinner. I very rarely eat meat anymore; it isn't so much that I oppose steak or chicken or pork - I love the taste - but it's the commercial, horrible slaughter of these animals as if they really were nothing but inanimate objects, and the sad condition many live in until they're slaughtered, that prevents me from satisfying my omnivorous cravings.
So, I go for tofu, some shrimp, and fish if it's been caught in a river not too far away from where the restaurant is... with all the commercial overfishing, I can't even feel good about fish.
Eggs are only from vegetarian fed, free range chickens.
I can't stand it either. You're right, it's a "bad death".
