Poll question: Next "American Idol" theme week!
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 09:33 PM by Plaid Adder
I can't think of too many ideas worse than trying to get all the American Idol contenders to do Queen songs. Which other completely inappropriate train wreck of a theme week do you want to see next? And whose performance would suck the worst?

:D

Can't imagine a worse train wreck than 10 people singing "I've Never Been to Me".

6. American Idol sings the songs of Swedish death metal band Opeth
Of course, anyone that knows Opeth's music knows that their "death" songs are damn near impossible to sing.

10. Even better: American Idol sings Icelandic instrumental band Sigur Ros
Which would be quite a feat considering their songs are sung in an entirely made-up language.

12. Supposedly that happens whenever it is performed - the setting becomes
the piece.

18. Yes, I know that...
that's why I'd like the judges to 'perform' it as well - a few minutes of silence from them would be better than 95% of what they normally do.

:)

16. Ozzy! Ozzy!
Ozzy released some EVIL shit, man. Perfect material for American Idol.

Let's get sweet sweet Kellie to sing "Look into my eyes, you'll see who I am / My name is Lucifer, please take my hand."

17. Nick Cave / Scott Walker Week
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 08:02 AM by Mike Daniels
Kellie and Ace can do a duet of Cave's "Where the Wild Roses Grow" (protagonist kills his love interest)

Chris can cover Cave's "The Mercy Seat" (testimonial from someone being executed in the electric chair)

Paris can cover Walker's "The Electrician" (torture)

Elliott can do Walker's version of "Amsterdam" (drunken sailors hooking up with prostitutes)

Taylor can do Cave's "Tupelo" (Elvis as savior)

K. McPhee can do Walker's "Montague Terrace in Blue" (couple in tenement housing long to escape seedy surroundings)

And they would all equally suck although Elliot and McPhee could probably do some justice to their respective pieces.

Each contestant has to sing the melody from "The Black Page" while simultaneously dancing "Approximate." The carnage would be delightful.

23. Tempted to vote the last option
I think it's more of a popularity contest than anything. I was surprised Bucky went last night - that was a classic Bucky performance IMO. Maybe on Queen night, fewer country music fans were watching. Hard to tell. I know that many people disliked Bucky, but I like him more than Ace and especially more than Elliott. If my Katharine goes next week, my favorite will be gone. I'll still have Taylor and Paris, but it wouldn't be the same. I could take Katharine leaving in the final 5 more easily.

They actually had a pretty good night with Queen. I'd love to see them all try U2.
