Neighbors and their dogs - a rant
I am getting ready to call animal control on our neighbors dogs. Their dogs are constantly left off a leash and often wander into our yard and often leave us "gifts". We have complained about it, and yes, they come and clean it up, but we have complained about the lack of leashes, and they do nothing about it. The last straw was today. My son and daughter were playing together in the backyard (my son is 15 and my daughter is 4-1/2). One of their dogs came into our yard and backed my daughter into a corner and barked incessantly at her. I came outside, and the neighbor gave us a very insincere apology.

If my daughter is backed into a corner again, I am calling animal control.

3. Oh, I hear you!
That is completely unacceptable behavior on the part of your neighbors...

No fences, I take it?

:grr: at your neighbors!

 for you!

6. There are not many fences in our neighborhood
unless one has a pool, fences are "not necessary".

4. I admire your restraint.
Please do call AC if it happens again. Those dogs are a threat, IMHO.

I love dogs, but I haven't got the commitment it SHOULD take to keep one (I'd love to have a retired greyhound). I think dog owners have an obligation to get their pets trained and restrain them properly, but sadly many don't do it.

We have new neighbors and their damn dogs bark constantly when I'nm in the kitchen or the damn bathroom.

What's worse than the barking is when the woman starts screaming at them to shut up at the top of her lungs.

It's been in the mid-80s to 90s here lately so everyone in the hood has their windows open.

5. I would do the same thing
Heaven forbid your child should be able to play in the backyard without their dog cornering her! :wtf:

Leash or fence or invisible fence or they stay inside. It really is that simple.

7. No doubt!
It really pisses me off. It is not like my daughter was wandering into their yard.

8. You should have your daughter give their yard "gifts"

and have your son corner their dog! That'll show them! :D

on edit: switched "presents" to "gifts"

9. Too bad she is potty trained,
we could have left dirty diapers in their yard!

11. This is not funny. Dogs bite people.
That includes kids. I hate that and it is illegal.

12. I should not have to get a fence to keep YOUR dog out of MY yard!

14. Maybe it's time to get the police involved rather than animal control?
I mean, if a human were cornering your child, you wouldn't hesitate.

If I were you I'd consider getting the cops involved--maybe they can give the neighbors incentive to build a fence--and I wouldn't drop a damn dime to help them fence their yard, either.

15. I am going to call the non-emergency number tomorrow
and find out what I can do about this. The more I think about it, the angrier I get.

16. I think that's a great idea.
I've found the non-emergency number responses very helpful when dealing with my neighbors and except for a precious few of them, we all get along quite well.

13. Don't wait until next time. Call animal control now. Get it on record.
This way, if it happens again, you can show a history of neglect.
