Anyone ever had "photo rejeuvenation" done to their skin?
A friend is considering having these light treatments on her face to get rid of some aging spots, sun damage, etc... but it's supposed to be pretty painful (the brochure says they numb your face beforehand so it doesn't hurt). Sounds kinda like a scam to me, though a reputable skin/dermatological clinic is offering the treatments.

Anyone know anything?

1. I've heard of it
But I can't remember where. Tell your friend to do his or her research, though. Make sure. Ask for references and referrals and qualifications. And check them out. Doesn't matter how many references or qualifications a doctor has if you don't check 'em.

Make SURE. Cosmetic procedures can turn into a nightmare if they're not done right.

2. They have to numb your face so it won't hurt???
I don't get it. I don't want to get it. I'm a woman so I probably should get it but I don't. Women are burning, scraping and poisoning their facial skin and it scares the living crap out of me.

I'm sorry I'm no help, but I can't help but say OUCH at the very thought! :(

3. I know...
it sounds alarming to me, too.

I'm thinking perhaps she should try something a little less severe the first time... maybe a chemical peel (heebie jeebies) or something that there's more literature on..

4. It works great.
I used to work at a dermatologist's office, and this is a very common practice. The treatment hurts a little bit (more like a little sting) so they apply a numbing cream before hand - just topical lidocaine. Age spots and spider veins are zapped away, and the results are awesome. It's not scary at all. I had a free treatment when I worked there, and it was no big deal at all.

7. great! thanks for some personal experience info...
I hadn't heard of it and was worried she might be getting something rather harsh done to her face. Glad to hear it isn't as drastic as it sounded.

5. I saw an ad for it today in my local small town newspaper.
And it said that the treatment is totally painless.
