Poll question: If you won Big Time money would you still live where you are now?
I wonder what the tax ramifications are for moving to New Zealand?

But I expect I'd have a vacation home or two elsewhere. :)

10. Hell no.
I'd definitely be moving. If I'd come into a lot of money, I'd really like to get a place in the Santa Cruz mountains. Of course, I'd have to talk the choice of location over with somebody else, but I suspect I could talk him into it.

I would like to have a house on the beach in the Keys.

A spanish style hacienda. With the open middle.

Where the cats could play by the fountain, nap in the sunshine and chase birds just for kicks.

That kitty looks more like a Chartreux to me. Russian Blues are more slender in build and have emerald green eyes. I used to have a Russian Blue. Check out out the Cat Fanciers Assocation website and see.

14. Once upon a time
I guesstimated that, with a fortune of ten million dollars, I could wake up every morning, throw a dart at the world map, travel to that place, eat a gourmet meal, rent a car, buy some new clothes, and sleep in a decent hotel, and do that over and over again every day for the rest of my life.

It might take 20 million now, allowing for the expected inflation in (especially) airline fuel costs.

But it still seems like an interesting way to live. In practice I think I'd spend more time in each destination, at least a week, and probably choose my destinations a little more deliberately. But I'd only come "home" to vote.

move but I am just not sure where. It depends on how long the Rethuglicans remain in power. I would love to live in Maine or California, but if things don't change soon, then either Canada or Australia.

My husband and I have a custom built home that is now 4 years old.....

No way in HELL would I move away from this!

But I'd have a ball travelling, meeting other DU'ers and giving mega-bucks to several worthy organizations!

wing nut heads would spin off their threads, literally. They wouldn't know how to find me either. I'd make damn sure of that. Probably would go to San Fran or Seattle. No more Rottenham, NC for me, then. 'T'would be sweet.

34. We'd definitely move to a different house
We currently live in a duplex where we aren't allowed to make any changes including nails in the wall.
We probably would move to a different area, maybe out of state. My husband would like to move to Amsterdam but I don't know if I'd really want to.

37. Northern California
I'd buy a house somewhere in the wine country north of San Francisco, preferably near the coast, and have a condo in the city.

That's my dream! Sadly, it does require me to somehow become very wealthy.

42. I'm torn
I know some incredible people here...they are 'kindred spirits'. I don't know if I could easily find such people elsewhere.

However, I hate the winters, and the lack of spring/autumn, the political climate...and that the city, I live in, I think, is boring.

like to Rockport or Gloucester on the North Shore. And if we're talking serious money, I'd also maintain a house in California, one in England, one in Toronto and one in Cape Breton. And they would all have some waterview. I hate being so far away from that.

I would buy a bigger house here in St. Louis. There is some beautiful new construction going on here, especially the rebuilding of Gaslight Square.

Then, we would travel the world.
