Your Collectible Treasures
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 06:32 PM by Liberalynn
So do you have any treasures you collected over the years, that might eventually be worth something someday on EBAY, or a regular auction, or at an antique store?

I don't have anything major but I do have a few things in the "entertainment collectible" field.

I have a Dr. Doolittle Doll. Not the Eddie Murphy version. The Rex Harrison one.

A Buffy (not the Vampire Slayer but the one from Family Affair) doll with attached small Mrs. Beasely.

A Flying Nun Doll, but poor Sister Bertrille lost her shoes.

A small Muffy dog doll. The electronic dog from Battlestar Glactica, the original. Also some trading cards from the original

A Bionic Woman Drink Tumbler.

More current items. A Dylan Hunt Andromeda Action figure, never removed from box. Andromeda cards.

A Kull The Conquerer action doll, never removed from the box

A Hercules The Legendary Journeys action figure-Hercules- never removed from box. A mug, some trading cards, books, photos. Including a personally written message from Kevin Sorbo to me, on one of the photos.

Several autographed photos of Drake Hogestyn. John Black Days of Our Lives.

An autographed photo of Rick Springfield. Grammy award winner and GH Star.

A Dr. Doom action figure, never removed from box.

Lord of the Rings, trading cards.

I know I am adult, but I still wanted to drool over my favorite celeb crushes, support their careers, and update my collection a bit.

Also I have a small collection of Political Buttons. They are mostly more recent ones since I just dedided to start collecting about ten years ago and haven't purchased or received many in that time frame. I have some Clinton/Gore buttons, Some inaguration buttons with Bill and Hillary, and Al and Tipper. I also have a button that says "Reagan Hood, Rob from the Poor, Give to the Rich," (I love that one,, snicker) A John Kennedy button, and a Michael Dukakis button, and one Hillary for Senate button. I am only collecting Dem buttons.:dem: and hope to go out hunting more soon.

1. I have a set of Topps 1987 edition baseball trading cards
and a few antique coins.

Other than that I have the treasure that is my personal experience in life. We all have that.

3. That's a great answer about the personal experience.

I have a few baseball cards too. I collected the L.A. Dodgers infield for the year they beat the Yankees. I am from NY State but my Mom was a Yankee's fan, so I had to root for the Dodgers. Plus I had huge crushes on Bill Russell, Steve Garvey, and Ron Cey back then.

8. I doubt any of my collection would make a lot of money either,
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 07:01 PM by Liberalynn
but I have enjoyed collecting them. I wish I had taken better care of some of the things when I was younger.

I also wish I had kept my old tin lunch pails. I saw a Laugh In one and a Monkees one, that were marked 100 dollars each, in an antique shop. I had a Monkees one, and a Beverly Hillbillies one, but they are long gone.

On a separate note, seeing these things from my childhood in an antique store already made me really feel old. :wow:

I did see the Rex Harrison Dr. Doolittle Doll like the one I have in an antique store for $50.00, not much, but if I ever get desparate, I may try to sell it there.

7. Sounds a bit like the collection owned by the Steve Carrell character
in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin." Not suggesting anything, but consider that the character did make a bundle...

9. It's crazy the amount of money , the right items
can sell for now a days, especially with E-Bay. I haven't seen that movie yet but I might check it out.

10. I have stuff that's already got some eBay value...
but I have my collections for the pleasure of having them, not for selling (vintage radios/stereos, old game show ephemera, other vintage items such as: board games, menus, cookbooks, kitchenware, barware, music, and clothing).

11. It is fun to collect isn't it?
I love to go to antique shops and flea markets. Haven't gone in a little while but am hoping to get out to some this summer.

12. Yes, I love it.
I miss living close to my mom - I loved antiquing and flea marketing with her. Fortunately, my husband enjoys it too! :D

13. That is good that your husband enjoys it too.
My Mom, my sister, and I always go together. My Mom hasn't been feeling well and it's harder for her to walk around, so that is why we haven't gone much lately. I am hoping the summer sun will help her feel better so we can get her out and doing the things she enjoys to do.

She usually just likes to look and see if she can spot the items, similar to the ones she's collected over the years. My sister collects serving dishes, and I usually look for the political buttons, entertainment stuff, and books.

14. I have the Xena action figure
have the box, but she's out of it. She's my computer goddess. Stands and guards the computer.

Other weird stuff: a carousel horse, collectable books, some Wade figurines, but no one theme, just whatever takes my fancy.

15. I always wanted the Ares figure
but never got around to buying him. It is still so sad knowing that Kevin Smith is no longer with us. What a tragic accident.

17. bunch of Hallmark Collectible Christmas Ornaments...
some of which are listed at very interesing prices in the retired ornament catalog.

I also have some original laboratory jars from the Agazzi Museum @ Harvard. These are from the original supplies assembled by Louis Agazzi when he was head of the zoological dept about 120 years ago. They have fitted glass stoppers, certificates of authenticity and everything.

Have an old JFK button too.
