70 Dogs in Odessa Losing Guardian to Cancer. All Need Homes!
We are sad to report that there are 70 dogs at a sanctuary in Odessa, Texas who need to be placed in loving homes. They are currently at a sanctuary run by a wonderful man who is in the last stages of prostate cancer. If these dogs are not rescued soon, he will be unable to care for them and a local humane society will put them down.

Most of the dogs are mid- to large-sized. All the dogs are friendly to dogs and humans; they are starved for human affection. There are no aggressive dogs. The dogs have been neutered and spayed, vaccinated, tested for heartworm and tick fever, treated for ticks and fleas, treated for tapeworms and some have undergone extensive dental work. Most of these dogs have been in the sanctuary for 1 to 5 years. They have not lived in homes, so they will require some socialization.

If you or anyone you know has the time, patience and the room in your heart and home to provide for one or more of these animals, please contact Max Green at Max@idausa.org or leave a message at 415-388-9641, ext. 222 and someone will get back to you right away.

Thank you for all that you do to help animals.

Sincerely,

In Defense of Animals

2. Thanks. I did and in GD. I hope it was ok to post it there as well.
I just thought with as many people as we have on the boards, you never know so I tried to post it in several areas. I hope it won't get lost.

Perhaps drive for life can help.
Drive for life organizes transports for animals that need homes, often across multiple states. Basically, they break the trip up into legs and people sign up for that leg, driving the animal the length of it, then passing it off to the person driving the next leg. Generally, it's to get animals from kill shelters/closing shelters to permanent homes, no-kill shelters or foster homes/rescue groups.

5. Forward this to
the local rescue groups. I'm sure that In Defense of Animals has done so (GREAT!!!!! organization, btw), but maybe an additional plea will catch the attention of a rescue group.

www.petfinder.com can steer you towards them.

Thanks for posting.
