I'm watching the inauguration of Erskine Bowles on UNCTV
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 08:28 PM by libnnc
He is The University of North Carolina's new President. The greatest university system in the world.

He chose to be inaugurated on the campus of my alma mater, UNC-Greensboro. He is a native of Greensboro.

I'm getting all verklempt...

Congrats President Bowles! Welcome aboard!

Of course UNCG's, college repugnats, that band of merry miscreants, couldn't pass up an opportunity to piss all over the day...

<snip>Members of the UNCG College Republicans stood outside the Graham Building. They strained to hold up signs above the tall fuzzy hats of drum majors who led the N.C. A&T State University marching band down Spring Garden Street.

As the trumpets and trombones moved down the asphalt blaring "Celebration," Melissa Westmoreland, the group's president, and four other protesters held their signs higher.

"It's a plum job," Westmoreland, a senior from Reidsville, said.

"He didn't get elected by the people, so Mike (Easley) had to give it to him," she said. "It's ironic, the fact that he doesn't necessarily have experience for the job. I'm going to say probably that there are other people out there with more experience (in higher education)." <snip>

2. I worked at UNCG and went to college at nearby
The UNCG campus has a decent amount of liberal kids, and they made their presence known. Good for him for having the swearing in at UNCG, instead of Chapel Hill.

FYI to people who don't know: A&T is a predominately African-American college.
