I think it's been a while since we had one of those lounge threads on all the movies you've either missed out on or successfully avoided. So pour yourself a beverage :beer: and dig into a box of popcorn :popcorn: and tell me all the movies that you never sat down and watched all the way through.

4. Don't waste your time..

... on ET or Close Encounters, especially Close Encounters, a lame over-hyped nothing if there ever was one.

Pulp Fiction is a must see.

I've never seen Reservoir Dogs but people I trust (my wife in particular) says it is very good.

Top Gun is a bubblegum movie. It's ok for mindless semi-entertainment.

The LotR trilogy is definitely worth seeing.

I have no desire to see Silence... , but I hear it's good.

Independence Day - save yourself the $4 :)

5. Hey, who's got that much time?

It's the same situation I find myself in with books: I have little enough time to read the things in my "to read" list that I can't find time to read everything recommended to me.

I'd like to see The Godfather Part II.

Seeing a Quentin Tarantino appeals to me just about as much as digging my own eyes out with a melon baller.

7. I understand about QT....

... Pulp Fiction is a pretty intense movie. People will generally either really like it or really hate it. The first time I saw it, I have to admit I was pretty shocked. It's over the top, but then that's the whole point iddn'it :)

Godfather Part II- I own the DVD collection but I always fall asleep damnit
All of the Lord of the Rings- I dont like fantasy flame away
Any Harry Potter- Again flame me
The Big Lewbowski- On my to see list after seeing the Coen Brothers' Fargo which I loved
The Matrix- I fell asleep the first two times I saw it and just gave up
Star Wars- With the exception of Episode I which I saw in shop class in 7th grade which I liked because I liked Jar Jar Binks.
Raiders of the Lost Ark- Just havent gotten around to seeing that one

10. I am doing good

I got a load of reading to do over the weekend but I would have a much bigger list if it weren't for my movie channels that I got because of it Ive been able to see Fargo, Young Frankenstein, The Producers, Blazing Saddles, and others.

I can't get through the original version of The Producers (a little of Zero Mostel goes a long, long way, except on the Broadway cast album of Fiddler on the Roof), but I love Young Frankenstein and can watch it again and again.

12. I really have gotten to appreciating Brooks after countless

recommenditions I got from friends over the years. I haven't seen the new one with Broderick and Lane but I think I'll prefer the original one best. I've heard that there is no LSD in the other one. I love how Brooks makes fun of hte nazis often in his films, they're an easy target.

Shawshank Redemption - everybody tells me I will love this movie, but every time I see it on TV, it's already started 10-15 minutes earlier and I'm enough of a movie snob to not want to watch a good movie when it's already started.

14. I am viscerally opposed to

Any kind of slasher flick, so I have never seen any of the Halloween/Friday the 13th/Scary Movie, etc, type of movies.

I also don't like contemporary war movies, so I haven't seen a lot of the Vietnam movies, like Platoon, Full Metal JJacket, and haven't watched Black Hawk Down, although we've had it for years.

18. For starters, all the Matrix movies

...how many of them are there anyway? They all look the same: green, green, and more green transparencies over all the camera lenses. At least that is what the preview trailers look like.

The Passion of the Christ. Have not seen it, not going to.

Titanic. Every so often while flipping through the cable channels, I'll stop to watch a few minutes here, a few minutes there, usually I'm waiting for coffee to finish brewing, or waiting for a different movie to come on, or I need to scratch my ass. I don't seem to have the desire to pay attention to when the thing is on so I can watch it from start to finish. Fuck it, if I'm going to subject myself to a three-hour flick, I'll keep it at LOTR exclusively.

Alice's Restaurant. Coming back to Cinemax this weekend. I plan on seeing it from start to finish, instead of just a few minutes here and there.

The other two are lame. Almost self-parodies.

Titanic and Passion were both pretty lame in my books as well.

21. Most of them. I can tell by the trailer if I'll like it...usually, not.

For instance, I could tell I was going to like Capote. Saw it and loved it.

I could tell, way back, that I would not like Forrest Gump. I was forced to watch it and--you guessed it--hated it.

29. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was good.

I detest Jim Carrey and have no desire to see any of his comedy films. But I did like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Then again, it's not your average movie.
