I have this CRAZY idea!
Lets stop clogging up our government with cases about baseball steroid use and cheating! Wow! Revolutionary, huh? How about this: stop paying grown men (some of whom may or may not use steroids) millions of dollars to play a game. If they wanted to play baseball so much, I'm sure they'd do it for under $250k a year. Same goes for football and basketball.

My thought EXACTLY! It is the very reason why college and even high school sports are infinitely more rewarding to watch (if one is into watching sports). Those athletes are (for the most part) playing

1. For the LOVE of the game, and

2. For PRIDE.

Which is to say,

3. NOT for the money.

And the richest school can't buy the best athletes, and the school with the best draw can't draft them.

I respect that.

3. Don't forget the minor leagues
Those guys are chasing a dream. And very few make it.

5. Hey Grammar Nazi...

Is it "here here", or "hear hear"? Also, is the comma supra correct as placed, or should it have been placed immediately BEFORE the last paren? For the record, I am of the opinion that the comma should have been placed immediately before the last paren, but my mother (the English teacher) disagrees. However, we tried to find the rule in our grammar books, to no avail. So I did it her way, because she's usually right when it comes to the proper use of English and whatnot.

(I think I'm about to stand corrected. On both counts.)

Oh, and I agree with your point about the minor leagues. Good call.

Now then, on to more important matters; your post count is RIDICULOUSLY HIGH at the moment. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES are you to answer this post until tomorrow evening. You hear?!

4. I've long thought professional athletes to be overpaid
Obscenely overpaid. They don't need millions of dollars a year to play a damn game--chop them down to something much more reasonable. Same for actors and actresses. :wtf: is with someone getting $1 million an episode for a show that takes maybe a few days to shoot? :eyes:
