Happy EXTREMELY early Friday morning. everyone!
I am going to be driving to Oregon on Friday to visit my family, so I am posting our Friday good morning thread very early. Random Australian, Hissyspit, and our lovely Joan Alpern told me they would help keep the thread kicked, because I have to go to bed soon. :boring: I need to be awake for the nearly 5 hour drive I have ahead of me.

But hey, we're close to the end of the week for us Monday through Friday workers, so I say :woohoo: !!

The song for today is "We Are Family" by the Pointer Sisters. There are several reasons for this. First, as you may have heard, June Pointer died of cancer at the age of 52, which is so damned sad, and I wanted to honor her, as I love The Pointer Sisters. Second, I am going to see my family. whome I love very much! And finally, it is an homage to my DU family. You have brought so much into my life, and I truly appreciate it!
:loveya:  :loveya:

I wish you all a pleasant weekend, and I also wish our friend Clintmax a safe journey home! :loveya:

1. Morning! I'll do more than kick the damn thing, I was planning on
answering the morning calls too! (If that's O.K by you, that is, once you've left, of course)

How are you?

3. Thank you so much, RA!
Any and all help you can provide to kick the thread, and respond to posters is much apprecated!

I'm okay. Tired, but okay. I'd really love to have a month off, but that's not in the cards so a 3-day weekend is pretty damned fine!

7. Cool. Would you like to be part of the atheist conspiracy this year?
We're plotting the downfall of western civilisation, mind control, and a little afternoon tea on the lawns. (Hot chocolate, tea and biscuits!)

Yes, this post is a joke. But it was funny.

11. Ha! I'll have my mind controlled drones get you......
.... some tea. It's a lovely Earl Gray I found just recently.

If a lawyer and a tax inspector were drowning, and you could only save one of them, would you go to lunch or read the paper?

Is one joke I never 'got'.

Meh. Any plans for world domination? Or plans? Or prepared spontaneity?

Do you have a garden?

13. You are so funny!
May I have coffee instead? I've never been able to like green tea (though Celestial Seasonings herbal teas are great).

I do have some plans for world domination, but they are peaceful ones, so I'm not sure how popular they'd be!

I have flower gardens, and will be doing another veggie garden this year.

15. Good stuff. The DU MHSG has got me thinking all about
gardens you see. If you don't know what I'm talking about, PM me.

I used to have a great veggie garden. It was on a farm that grew flowers so flowers would have been superfluous, but I had me a huge vege garden. Perk of living in the country.

I'm going to have eat now, when I come back I shall watch over this thread for you. (Unless something else grabs my attention, a real possibility.

I am 18 in 4 days! (On the 18th, no less).

Oh, yeah. :headbang: :headbang:

With an invulnerable argument for my own atheism, I am immune to the local evangelicals. Therefore I might just be doing a lot more when talking to them than anyone else I know. Cool huh?

Pity I cannot generalise it (my reasons for atheism) to other people though.

But yes, I try and I help, and I get people to think.

47. But not directly
No fundie will ever be converted by direct efforts. It is a long arduous process whereby they must be exposed to reality over a period of time and decide for themselves to accept it. I never expect to go into a debate with one and have them throw down their Bible yelling, "I don't believe!". I merely refute as much nonsense as I can, when I'm not weary of :banghead:. After all, that's what many encounters with them can be like with the circular reasoning, the non-sequiturs and such.

It is called the 'Fundamental Attribution Error', and it means we over-estimate the effect of the persons internal working on their behaviour, and underestimate the importance of the environment in which they are placed.

With a few good role models, you can change dumb and apathetic quasi-fundy too dumb and good people.

So no fret! It is very possible to change the morals of many, many Americans.

What a co-incidence that I chose the courses and life that would allow me to do this!) ;).

More seriously, that really has shaped a great deal of my though: Make it so everyone makes things better is an O.K. analagy.... but no worries, I'll always, always be here.

I tell ya, you lot are an inspiration to me. DU is a wonderful place.
I am trying to work out how to convert the fundies. It is awesomely difficult, but there is something, somewhere.

Keep up the good work yourself! If you don't think you've made a large and positive effect one those around you, then you aren't giving yourself enough credit, my friend.

80. We row in the long
skinny boats, long oars. Pretty calm, protected part of the river and no traffic this time of year. Last Sat. it was 21 degrees, but the sun was out and it was a most beautiful morning. Saw sand hill cranes, kill deer, many ducks. It's a great thing to do first thing on a Saturday morning.

81. Morning everyone!
It's Friday and not a moment too soon. We're bugging out a little early today and I'm picking up my daughter at the dorm and heading to the farm. Since I moved two weeks ago, I still can't find most of my shoes and my summer clothes. I think those boxes ended up in the basement and it's a scary place down there!

I moved two weeks ago to a farmhouse. The owner has several farms in the area and works the land and rents the houses. My house is on a 39 acre farm about 25 miles from the city.

What are you up to this weekend?

111. Awesome smilie! 4 Hours of Good mornings!
It isn't even a program. I have a capacity for patterns and stuff, so I can write out shapes in terms of their component parts.

Instructions:
1)Copy and paste the code below into notepad.
2)Go to "edit" and click "replace".,
3)Replace ; with :
4)Save as smilieheart
5)When you want the pattern, you just copy and paste the entire thing. DU will read it like you hand-typed it.

And that's that. ;) :)
