Best concert movie ever?
I'm going to go ahead and suggest "Heart of Gold," the latest of the several hundred Neil Young concert movies. Though I loved the "Rust Never Sleeps" albums and enjoyed the movie when I first saw it, I've never made it through the DVD. I suspect all the little Star Wars references that were cute but silly at the time are just dating the movie now. (Also, that Bernard Shakey is an IDIOT! (Kidding-- yes, I know who Bernard Shakey is.:))) Regarding the new one, whenever the floor of the theater is shaking from the audience tapping their feet, I think you consider it a good sign.

Note: when I make my kickass concert movie, the first person I'm calling is Emmylou Harris. Hey, why doesn't somebody make an Emmylou Harris concert movie?

Ok, whaddayou think?

5. "Joe Cocker Live" by Richard Meltzer.
In 1970, Richard Meltzer, infamous rock critic and prankster, found a silent 8mm reel of film in a trashcan. He took it home and found that it contained a boring home movie of a few kids playing in a swimming pool.

He then titled it "Joe Cocker Live" and attempted to sell it through some of his articles.

That's why Meltzer's my hero.

14. Third on The Last Waltz... indisputably the best.
Others come pretty close -- the Woodstock documentary, for example. Or even the OP's Heart of Gold (which is very, very good. Go see it), but nothing beats The Last Waltz

10. URGH! A Music War
Never has a movement (New Wave) been so thoroughly documented when still in its infancy. And what a variety of acts.

I have a couple of concert films of Genesis when Peter Gabriel was still with them. The quality of the film is poor, but what an amazing show, not to mention the music.
