Thought Oklahoma was one of the greatest teams ever. Gotta think again. Can't send that team to the Sugar Bowl after that blowout, and after they didn't even win their conference. College football is the greatest sport, and this is why. Enjoy Pasadena, Sooner fans! K State - Florida State in Fiesta, Michigan - Oklahoma Rose; Miami - Ohio State, Orange. Wanna argue? Check back Sunday night.

Oklahoma vs LSU. The computers will say so.

2. Oklahoma is gonna get in, like it or not.
Haven't read anything an multiple sites saying they are in jeopardy of losing their spot in the Sugar. Right or wrong, that's what's gonna happen.

Three teams with just one loss, two spots. As far as Oklahoma not being a conference champ, that is a bit misleading. Technically true, but they still have the best record of anyone in that league, both in league play (8-1) and overall (12-1). I think the conference champ argument holds better in leagues that aren't divided and have title games.

Here are the two probable scenarios:

Sugar- Oklahoma-LSU
Rose- Michigan-USC
Fiesta- Kansas State-Florida State
Orange- Miami-Ohio State

OR

Sugar- Oklahoma-USC
Rose- Michigan-Florida State
Fiesta- Kansas State-LSU
Orange- Miami-Ohio State

If somehow Oklahoma DOES drop out, then....

Sugar- USC-LSU
Rose- Michigan-Florida State
Fiesta- Kansas State-Ohio State
Orange- Miami-Oklahoma

3. Then, out with the BCS
Really, nothing against the Sooners, but they were crushed tonight. Absolutely crushed. (I am a Michigan State fan; no dog in this fight). Watch out. The people voters may have an influence yet. Some of them may vote Oklahoma #4, just to keep them out of the Sugar. The BCS has to go, if the computers win out. It appears now that it has to go, anyway. I will stick with my scenario, and watch all the games, anyway.

4. Don't think they'll get voted #4
That would mean putting a two-loss team ahead of them. That's not really right, either. Probably #3 due to the severity of the loss.

Three teams and two spots. Yeah, Oklahoma lost by 28, but LSU lost to an 8-4 team on their home field, and USC lost to a good, but 7-6 California team.

Think about this: USC could be #1 in the polls and out of the Sugar. BUT, if they beat Michigan in the Rose, they'll stay #1 in the AP and win a share of the national title. The coaches are under contract to vote the Sugar Bowl winner #1. That would mean the only two one-loss schools split it.

OR, USC loses to Michigan on January 1. That would mean the only two one-loss teams remaining are playing off for the title.

Full disclosure. I'm a UCLA guy, no dog in the fight, either.

5. You could be right. But, let's check back Sunday.
Again, I'm stickin' to my prediction. Good to find a fellow knowledgeable fan here. At any rate, this is probably the end of the BCS as we know it. I'll be watching CBS at 5:30 on Sunday, you bet, to see how this all shakes out.

6. How many times have I wished the death of the unholy BCS, only...
to see it resurrected each season.

I hope this is the coup-de-grace, but unlikely...

It'll take at least 2 years to get a playoff system that everyone agrees on, so we'll have to languish through two more years of these threads.

You'll find about 20 people on DU who are qualified to talk, sad to say.

The computer models I've seen tonight already reflect that OU is too strong and only drops to like 3.3 or something.

So the Sooners blow the top game to KSU (hate em, go Hawks!), they're ranked 15 and arguably the strongest growing team in D1 right now. LSU defeats a largely overrated Georgia? USC gets by an unrated team?

My prediction, or is it famous last words?, is:

#1 USC

#2 OU

#3 LSU

#4 Mich.

8. Do they need to do some kind of playoff thing?
It looks like the football gods in heaven have been doing some conspiratorial work themselves :-D

After a gripping day of college football, three teams remain in the hunt for the top two spots in the Bowl Championship Series rankings and a berth in the national title game.

They are:

The University of Southern California (11-1, No. 2 BCS), which won the Pacific 10 Conference title and clinched no worse than a berth in the Rose Bowl with an impressive 52-28 victory over Oregon State.

LSU (12-1, No. 3 BCS), which manhandled Georgia (No. 7 BCS), 34-13, in the Southeastern Conference championship game.

Oklahoma (12-1, No. 1 BCS), which suffered a humiliating 35-7 loss to Kansas State in the Big 12 Conference title game.

The final BCS rankings are to be announced at 4:30 p.m. today (Channel 12 in Milwaukee). The Nos. 1 and 2 teams will meet Jan. 4 in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans for the national championship

7. Only solid bet ...
is Miami - Ohio State in the Orange Bowl. A rematch of last year's title game. I don't know the order the bowls pick after the Sugar bowl but I think this one will happen.

As a Michigan alum I would love to see a Rose Bowl matchup with Oklahoma but that's unlikely. Either that or USC. Florida State or LSU as Rose Bowl opponents don't thrill me. After playing 6 out of our last 7 bowl games vs the SEC (4-2 record) it would be nice to play somebody else. (Yes I know Florida State is not in the SEC).
