1. Are you asking?
'Cause I'd recommend AMICA for auto. Operates completely by word of mouth, they don't spend money on advertising, and every year you get a 'dividend' check. Don't know about their home policies, though.

3. I don't think they check your credit either.
Since credit is now the foundation of every fucking adult thing you could possibly do, ever, in your whole life, I love Amica for that reason alone.

Um, LOL, if they don't check your credit! A relative has Amica, I think they mentioned that, have to check later to see if that's the case.

16. You're welcome.
But if you're a credit union member you can get auto/home insurance through Members Insurance through Liberty Mutual. I just got a solicitation in the mail today.

4. Yes. My husband was an agent for them for two years.
Two years after he left the company for another position, we're still with them for our auto, home, and a variable annuity. We did, however, switch our life insurance to two other insurers.

USAA. If you're the son/daughter/spouse of a veteran, you're eligible. Turns out I was eligible for years (my dad was USAF), but until I married Mrs. Kay, I didn't know about USAA (her dad was USAF too). It rocks. Great customer service, great rates.

Correction: see my post below...

8. USAA kicks ass
Great customer service--my credit card rate is 2.4% or something outrageous.

11. I Look Forward To The Dividend Checks... But I Wonder...
... if we'll get one this year. I have a feeling that USAA probably took a loss with all the hurricane related claims this year.

12. Here's the eligibility (from their site)
Are you currently:
Actively serving in the military (Active, National Guard, Reserve or pre-commissioning)?
Separated from the military
Retired from the military
Married to someone actively serving in the military (Active, National Guard, Reserve, pre-commissioning)
Adult child of a current or former USAA member
A spouse or former spouse of a USAA member

So update to what I said above: I guess your parent or spouse would have to join first, if they're not already. But hey, it's probably in their best interest to do so anyway.
