and I thought that it was a fun, quick read. I loved all the history. Has anyone read the book that this was based on (meaning the book that was written by the guy that sued Dan Brown and lost)? Is that worth reading.

1. I'm reading it right now. |

I finished reading a mystery/thriller with a Catholic church theme by Steve Berry just before beginning The DaVinci Code. It was an interesting enough story, but it pales in comparison. Dan Brown is a far superior writer to Steve Berry.
As for the book that was written by the guy that sued Dan Brown - no, haven't read it.

the other book - "holy blood and holy grail" - is not a novel, its pure conspiracy theory. While Dan Brown writes a neat little story loosely based on artwork and old secret societies, he doesnt pretend that its factual.

The DeVinci Code is a fictional rehash of the basic ideas{sic} in Holy Blood and Holy Grail. Don't waste your time.

He wrote HB&HG as 'fact', suppressed fact. It wasn't a novel.
There's nothing suppressed about the fact that all royal families trace their ancestry back to a godhead. The Merovingians were no different and back in the day they did claim descent from Christ and Mary Mag. This is old, old news.

I thought it was kind of neat, I finished the book this weekend after starting last weekend and pictured Tom Hanks as Langdon throughout the book.

14. Langdon isn't the strong swashbuckler character like Indiana Jones..... |
|
I think Tom Hanks will actually be good playing his part.

7. I liked the history, I am familiar with the theory that Jesus did in fact |
|
get married and that his wife ran off to Gaul to hide.
Is it true? Depends on what you believe...but I think that HBHG probably is a decent read if you like to read conspiracy theories.

10. HBHG is a pretty dense read |
|
Seems to be about a million, small-type pages long, and not too pleasant to read -- it wanders all over the place. I ultimately found it both intriguing and boring.
Check out The Templar Revelation...it's a little more approachable.
