Jane's Enchanted Evening

Before heading out to a local beer hall to get all liquored up, we stopped at a little cafe for dinner. Hedges and Dolo shared a phosphate, and I had a BLT. It was over dinner that Hedges informed me he hates my boyfriend's band. Hates them, and will only be happy once they're resigned to a life performing at open mic nights at the airport lounge. If they're lucky.

I knew he had a mean streak, but was still a shock to hear such vitriol.

We made it to the bar, where it was Drinking Liberally night hosted by the lovely and charming DUer, eyesroll. Any hard feelings were quickly erased when, in what I can only assume was an attempt to make up for the snafu at dinner, Hedges and Dolo agreed--no, begged--to perform the Ozzy Osbourne/Lita Ford duet at the first available opportunity.

The rest of the evening is a blur because they kept feeding me pitcher after pitcher of delicious beer, but I'm pretty sure we all had a good time. At least, they said they had a good time when they pulled up to my doorstep, kicked me out of their (still moving) car at the end of the night, and sped off, cackling loudly in the warm night air.










Please note: It may not have been exactly like that. There was beer involved and it does tend to cloud my memory.

7. Just let them know when they've gone over the line

Keep a spray bottle of vinegar around for Dolo. When she gets carried away, spray her with it. For Hedges, every now and then you have to hit him in the face with a crowbar. Other than that, it's easy, just like keeping pit bulls.

3. Just wait till hedges and dolo take you to Chicago to do karaoke

with me. Last time, hedges did a version of Prince's "Darling Nikki" that made my phantom vagina moist, and I did a version of Motorhead's "Ace of Spades" that climaxed in wild-eyed shirtlessness.

5. I've heard tell of those performances

Simply hearing about them made me shiver with glee. Is it safe to call them Legendary at this point?

I'm so awful at Karaoke. I have to be so, SO liquored up to do it and even then I mostly just jump around like a "rock star" and taunt the crowd until I get them to sing along. I've never had the joy of live band karaoke. It sounds fun though. The place I've been to is just regular karaoke but the lady who's in charge of the machine plays along on her guitar sometimes too.

Sorry for the response lag-time. I was stuck at work on what's supposed to be my damn day off. Nuts to that. (But hooray for the extra loot it will bring.)
