by that time they are bigger than a thumbnail, so easy to see. Put your thumbnail against your arm for the full visual effect!

Not a deer tick. Deer ticks are the only ticks I know of that carry the disease.

Of course, deer ticks are different than wood ticks, but are you SURE that the one you pulled off of yourself was a wood tick and not a deer tick?

I remember pulling a wood tick off of my stomach back when I was about 10 or 12 years old, but I really wouldn't have known the diff between that and a deer tick at the time. Fortunately, it turned out to be a non-event.

Just saying - better to be safe than sorry.
