Can you eat Taffy if you have dentures?
I popped a piece of Taffy in my mouth after buying it at one of the stores and I felt like I was going to die.
My teeth got stuck together and for a few minutes I thought that my throat was going to get stopped up with candy and cut off my breathing.

I had to laugh after wards because I must have looked like a nut or an old I Love Lucy Show.

1. I have about half of my teeth...
On a trip to Bruxelles, Belgium a few years ago I tried to eat a candy-apple they were selling on the street. It almost pulled out the other half of my remaining teeth. I had to spit it out on a crowded street. I have alot of trouble with beef-jerky too.

2. My dad can't
He forgets once in a while and buys gooey candy and then realizes he can't eat it. Frustrating I imagine!

But the alternative wasn't very good either as I recall. Missing a little taffy is nothing compared to how sick you were! Glad you're doing well.

3. I have all my teeth and some crowns and I would not get near it.
My first crown cost me $150 and I had to replace one two years ago at 1000 because the price was going to 1200.Feed that into your increase of the value of money.Taffy is not worth it. That is 'cost of living calculior-AIER'

4. You get used to it...
and find ways to deal with everything-- even corn on the cob, peanut butter, ribs and other stuff allegedly denture-unfriendly.

Real problems are:

Sneezing while peeing (worse problem for men-- think about it)

On top during sex and they fall out and bounce off of his/her head

Coughing while making an important speech, sales pitch, job interview, etc. and they fly out on to the desk.

You fall asleep in public with your mouth open, and the top one just kind of flops down.

5. I have relatives still in disbelief that my teeth are gone
I use to be a Dental Assistant and I took care of my Teeth but being without insurance for the years that you desperately needed work done screwed me up. Mercury fillings also can cause damage if a tooth breaks and that it what happened to me when it broke off below the gum line and I didn't have the money to go to the Dentist.

One day I put a spoonful of peanut butter in my mouth and I couldn't talk to my Chef/Instructor and he started laughing and walked out because I was making a joke out of it and he knew why I was joking.

6. Nope - you can't,
not if you want your teeth to stay in. If you really have to have it, you need to remove your teeth (in private :-)) and have at it. I have a partial plate and every once in a while I'll bite into a piece of candy I think is soft and the big gum-up happens.
