Make me turn off "Beaches". Barbara Hershey is pretty close to death and already the tears are welling up in my eyes. In about 30 minutes it's going to be a totally bawl fest.

Someone make me turn it off!!

1. Go play with your cats!
Back away from the TV. Just turn it off and back away slowly.

2. Oh go ahead and cry
it's cathartic. Even if it is just because of a dumb movie. :-)

3. Turn it off unless it's cathartic for you
I sometimes have to watch tear jerkers just to get it all out.

4. Barbara Hershey was born a male.
It won't make you turn it off, but now you won't be able to watch it without looking for telltale signs. Thusly preoccupied, you won't pay attention to the story as you look for a hint of an adam's apple and the size of her hands. You're welcome.

5. Oh, once they start playing "Wind Beneath my Wings", that is it for you.
It is serious hanky time. Use the Puffs with cream, so your nose doesn't get all chapped.

12. That movie is a classic.
And, a good soundtrack, too. I think Beaches and Joy Luck Club are the best movies about friendship between women.

7. Have you seen the sequel?
Bette Midler's character has a child. It's called "Son of Beaches."

 I love that joke. No one else does.

16. I have such happy memories of those days.
Remember the art on the walls? All those caricatures of famous actors. Of course, I haven't been there probably since summer of 92...
