Who knows what tomorrow brings? (Take a guess)
Alright, I was reading crud from the 60's that was telling us that by the year 2000 we all wore 'zifs' that were some kind of wonder clothes, and had flying cars and whatnot, and also 'small computers' like the ones we have now. So sometimes the guesses are right, so I'd like to hear DU's guesses as to what equipment people will have to play with in future.
Also, political guesses a plus! (Remember, nothing much lasts forever, not even were you think power will stay/move to next)

1) What will we have in 50 years time? Cars that use no petrol.

2) 500 years time? Artificial Intelligence

3) Political climate in 1000 years time? Japan down, SE Asia O.K., Australia screwed, U.S. moderate, Asia mainland powerful, but not one big mass. Europe: Moderate and good. Russia: I have no idea.

4) 2000 years time? The ability to travel between planets.... I hope. Or at least not get fried by the sun's end.

Let's go, DU!

1. This is a difficult topic
because sometimes technology investment gets sidetracked like it did in the US, because it's easier for companies to finad a way to sit back and suck up money rather than actually do something to earn it.

So, here's a stab:

50 years: orbital colonies and solar stations, advanced wind power probably substantial nuclear power too, microchips EVERYWHERE for advertizing purposes, genetically enhanced breeding/animal hybrids common

500 years: interstallar travel begins

1,000 years: colonization of multiple star systems

2,000 years: time travel

That's my guesses, and I'm sticking to them. Prove them wrong! I dare you!

3. There's only one thing that really matters
Us learning how to live as members of the community of life. I fear that if we don't learn how to do that, and soon, none of these things will ever be invented by humans, for there will be no humans, or any other species, to invent them...

If you haven't already, read "Ishmael", by Daniel Quinn. It gave me some hope. :)
