Can anyone name one credit card company that WON'T fuck me over?
Well, at least less than CapitalOne? Just got a $99.00 charge for a 'member fee'. Seriously, I want to start up a bank or credit card company with the motto 'we won't fuck you.' :grr:

1. Have you tried your own bank?
We have our main credit card through the bank where we carry our checking and savings accounts. I've been very pleased with them, and we have a low fixed interest rate if we need to carry a balance.

19. You got that right.
We had to dispute a charge (we had returned the stuff) and they wanted us to send the documentation THREE times! Then they never wrote to tell us it got settled ... they just never took the temporary credit off. We shredded the new cards.

and I forgot to say that this terrible service happened AFTER they let us sit on hold for 45 minutes every time we called. They don't want anyone to talk to their disputes department. :grr:

42. I paid them on time for five years
The one time I mailed in my payment on the day it was due (a Friday) they called me every day the next week wanting to know where the payment was. I told them it was already sent in, but they kept calling and kept calling and kept calling. Them calling wasn't going to make the mail get them their check faster. But they kept harassing me anyway.

8. There are many good points in having a credit card as long as
YOU DON'T LET THE CHARGES GO OVER THIRTY DAYS. You're screwed if you do.

13. Yeah I guess that's why I'm so against them
I got myself in a bind last year. Long story short-asthmatic cat, bad sewer line, four new tires and realignment- end results $8600 in debt.

Slowly digging out!

I never have problems with paying late, that's why I suspect i've been hit with this charge.

11. As far as I can remember, I've never been charged any membership fee.
It's the card I got when I was in high school, and they upped the limit and lowered the interest rate, etc. Maybe I just can't remember, but i'm pretty sure I wouldn't miss a $99 fee.

30. I've never heard of a fee that high. Twenty dollars is the highest
I've ever paid. I have resisted a few times and had it waived but had to jump through hoops and make threatening remarks. My bank doesn't charge a fee. So I'm happy.

They never send me a bill and then charge me a late fee for not paying. Sometimes I go months without a getting a bill. I have told them this many times and it still happens.

29. They're all the same but you can go with one of the blue companies...
...and at least get the satisfaction of knowing that your money supports Democrats. As noted above, Working Assets (http://www.buyblue.org/node/2208/view/summary) is the best. It's 96% blue and the other 4% goes to Independents and others--no Republicans.

Also, Mastercard and Visa support no candidates, at all. So, if you get either card through a blue bank, that's a good thing, too. Bancwest (http://www.buyblue.org/node/292/view/summary) is 85% blue. That's a pretty good record. And Commerce Bank splits 60-40, in favor of Democrats. That's not so bad, either. I guess, all things considered, Working Assets is head and shoulders above the crowd.

Most pay rewards. This one donates a *tiny* amount to charity. I'd prefer to receive the cash back and donate to a charity of my choice.

I think this type of margin pricing could pay off big time.

35. All my credit cards have reward programs plus bonuses for opening
the account. Usually zero interest for balance transfers for a time, too. If you have reasonably good credit, there's no reason to accept bad credit card terms. :)

38. Why do you assume everyone carries a balance?
Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 10:56 PM by Starlight
I pay them in full every month EXCEPT when I can get an interest free loan. Then I max them out and invest the proceeds in a high rate CD. :headbang: And, if you have anything close to decent credit, your interest rate NEVER goes anywhere close to 29%. My highest rate card is 12% and I'd never, never, never carry a balance on it.
