Do any women here dig bieng called 'chick' or 'babe' ? (4 situations)

Be serious! I am now not so entirely certain......And guys, post what you think chicks think! (good for a laugh if nothing else! ;):))

1) Just some random unknown saying it;

2) Some girl you know saying it;

3) Some guy you know, who thinks of girls as pieces of meat saying it;

4) Some guy who you know, who thinks of women as people, not just objects, saying it?

(yes, this is heterocentric I'm afraid.... a sorry but it would be to difficult to post this to include all, my apologies in advance. :cry: If you wish, just amend the questions a little...)

1. Here's what I think:

1) Not sure at all.
2) O.K. with it.
3) Borderline, may dislike but won't say anything about it.
4) Like it if used infrequently.

That's what I think women think, in general.
Specifics will vary from hunk o' love to sweetcheeks.

4. I was called too many of those things when I worked.

That makes me not like it.

I've known harleydad for 32 years and he's never called me chick or babe ... I'm glad. :D Sometimes, if it's a good friend and we're joking around, it's OK.

6. I think it is ok when one woman says it to another woman

as in "Hey Chick, whassup?"

and when guys are talking about chicks in general is fine with me.

The "babe" thing....that borders on flirting...use it sparingly


and I would rather be called either one of those as opposed to "GAL" :puke:

7. It depends.

No one's ever called me a chick to my face, but depending on the context, it would bug me. On the other hand, my best friend Steph (straight female) and I (gay female) routinely refer to other girls as chicks.

Usually it will be in one of these contexts...

1. Steph pointing out girls for me. "Hey Jackie, check out the hot chick over there.

2. Either one of us being pissed off. "Yeah, so this fuckin' chick went like all crazy and we had to teach her not to mess with drunk Irish girls."

9. I was called ma'am once.

And I'm a guy. Back when I had long hair the security guard at work asked, "Can I see your ID, ma'am"? I thought it was funny. And everyone around me. Anyway ma'am made me feel like an old crone, and I didn't like that part. I'd much rather be called a chick or babe. If it came down to mistaking my gender. lol

And I don't mind if a guy friend calls me a chick out of humor or something.

The only time I don't like either term is when they are used to make me seem smaller and less important.

I probably wouldn't be offended if it were part of a joke, but I dislike it generally.

Chick = piece of meat.

13. DIG = much too strong language.

I wouldn't say I "dig" it by any stretch of the imagination - but I'm not offended really. I may roll my eyes and consider the person saying it an ass in certain contexts, but that's about it.

14. Not a problem, that's just how my buddies & I talk.

1) Doesn't bother me

2) Doesn't bother me, in fact I've rubbed off on past girlfriends and got them started talking like that too, much to my amusement

3) I laugh, because I won't allow myself to be a victim of vocabulary that I use constantly myself- plus I just don't hang out with people like that

4) Not only does it not bother me, I also think a guy is extra cool if he is comfortable calling me dude or man instead of changing the way he talks every time he's around me.
