Poll question: No... Fucking... Coffee....
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 08:21 AM by whoisalhedges
So, I'm at work, right? Building of 300-400 people. No coffee. NO COFFEE. The free coffee in the coffee stations is gone, and I'm not talking "some asshole finished the pot without making a new one" gone, I'm talking NO COFFEE TO MAKE. NONE IN CUPBOARDS. NONE ON FLOOR. NO GROUNDS TO COLLECT FROM THE DRAWERS AND GENTLY SCRAPE INTO A FILTER TAKING SPECIAL CARE NOT TO SPILL ANY PRECIOUS, PRECIOUS BROWN GOLD ON THE FLOOR.

Seems like if they're not going to pay me enough to afford the "gourmet" coffee in the cafeteria, they should at least bother to STOCK that "Superior Coffee" (I'd hate to taste "Inferior Coffee") stuff they give out like Tommy Lee gives out hepatitis.

So... what should I do?

1. Other: give up coffee.
I've felt GREAT since I did it. Your blood pressure will thank you, my dear chum. </preach>

5. Unlike you, I do not wish to be responsible...
...for impoverished Peruvians losing their sole source of income.

You just take take take from the indiginous peoples, and give nothing back. x(

23. Kicking coffee is like kicking nicotine - it will make you weaker
Seriously - I used to smoke a lot. Then I quit, for years. During that time, even up to 5 years later, I felt slow, sluggish, tired and not 100% with it. Then I started smoking again, and I felt with it again.

So I found a solution - the Nicotine patch. You see with smoking its not the drug - Nicotine itself is relatively harmless and no worse for you than coffee. It's the delivery system that kills. So I've been using the 7mg patch and all is right.

I know the same thing will happen if I kick caffeine so why bother? Believe me - There are far worse things for you out there than coffee and nicotine...McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell to name a few....

And I never eat fast food shit.

8. I think the ACLU, the EEOC and homeland security would be
VERY interested in the hostile work environment your company has created. How do we know that the lack of coffee isn't breeding terraists? We don't. And, I don't think we should take the chance.

7. That's fucking inexcusible, imo.

Seriously. That sounds like my office on a few occasions. I've had to go to the Starbucks down the street and buy a pound of coffee just so that ALL of us have had some coffee. I've mentioned my experiences (I did that because I'm the first one in the office and noticed it first). I was compensated for my purchases and we're now getting coffee all the time.

If you work in even a medium sized office (which sounds like your work environment), there should be coffee at ALL TIMES. I don't blame you one bit for being pissed. Mention it to someone...is there an office admin assistant...someone who purchases office supplies and such? Coffee is an intergral part of an office.

I'm out of anything but decaf here at home (Mr. LiW has to drink decaf), so I'm stopping off for some real stuff on my way downtown this morning (preschool field trip - I'll need it).

21. A good option. I think it's against the law to not have coffee here.
And if not, a sympathetic jury is a sure thing. :7

16. You sound like my sister when she quit smoking! LOL
She was a nutcase for two weeks and drove me insane (this was 20 years ago)---but I told her I would help her get through the bad parts. I'll help you get through the bad parts of coffee withdrawal if you like! It's worth it in the long run. :D

But put down some tarps before you get to the violence part. It's just not right to make some coffeeless janitor clean all that up.
