Wedding gift etiquette question….

My friend got an invitation (70’s theme) for a wedding. The bride and groom are not registered anywhere. They have been living together for years and money is in plentiful supply. Several months ago, the bride-to-be had a baby shower and was registered all over the place, but for the wedding there are no registrations.

What should my friend look for to give them? Cost is not an issue, but they are not best buddies or anything, just friends.

2. How about a 70's theme gift?

How about a Black Velvet painting of Bruce Lee along with a Lava lamp...

If that is just too much to stomach, I'd suggest maybe a gift card to a Dept Store that they can use to buy baby stuff or even something for the household.

3. I like to give gifts that are symbolic.

for example, an idea we've done for a wedding gift is a really nice set of quality windchimes, to symbolize the blessing of Harmony for their relationship and their home.

I recommend Woodstock Chimes. :thumbsup:

I find them incredibly soothing and peaceful....

We've used them many many times as one of our signature wedding gift ideas. Everybody always loves them.

9. The invitations are a riot. Everyone is to dress in that 70's style

I have windchimes, but can't hang them up because we live in a condo now. These are pretty too. I call them my "tubular bells".

8. A nice bottle of wine with a complete picnic set

is a very welcome gift. Most people wouldn't buy the picnic set on their own, and who doesn't like wine...

10. When we got married, one of the gifts we received that was unusual

but very nice: the guest had taken our wedding invitation and had it beautifully framed. Noone else thought of doing that!
