What are the FRENCH not telling us?
I think there must be some secret way to carry a baguette. I find them really awkward in a grocery bag.

1. My dear yvr girl!
Don't the French often use the string bags, which adapt more readily to odd shapes?

I'm not sure, though......

2. The secret is not to buy it from a supermarket.
If you potter down to the bakery separately then it isn't a problem.

4. Fuck off dirty Americans!
That's what they'd say if they weren't so polite.

5. I think the trick is to buy celery at the same time and let the celery act
as a support.

7. I think the key is not to use a plastic bag.
Plastic bags are lower than paper. My guess only.

8. In France they are sold with a piece of paper wrapped around the middle.
And that is all, you carry the baguette by itself in one hand, grasping it in the middle, it is protected by the paper. It is naked to the world.

Because you shop every day, the rest of your groceries fit in one string bag you hold with the other hand, or hold the string and the baguette in one. Voila!
