I was lying next to him, helping him fall asleep. I was getting ready to get up and go when he rolled over, rubbed my cheek and said: "I'm glad you're my mommy. You're so sweet to me."

we were driving around in the car and she said, completely out of the blue, "Mommy, did we come true in your dream?"

I was, like you, blown away and assured her that yes, she and her brother had come true in my dream.

Please remember what I told you about treasuring the times you can still comfortably pick them up to comfort them. That is the most natural instinct.

It lasts for a shorter period of time than you might think. Before you know they tower over you. And that transition is something I doubt they talk about much in parenting books. Before I knew it my kid was hurling me onto the furniture effortlessly in a totally playful way and gaining ennormous pleasure from doing so.
