I have the same beef with those Mr. Yuck stickers.

10. There was a man in my neighborhood who thought that he'd surprise...
his wife by putting a Mr. Yuk sticker on the head of his penis. The problem was that they use a special adhesive on those so that they won't fall off a can of bleach (which I suppose some kid would take as an indicator that it's time to chug chug chug). Anyway, the guy had to go to the hospital to have the sticker removed.

9. My Saab got the best gas mileage at 75-80mph.
Depends on the car, I think. My Jeep starts losing fuel efficiency (like it has it anyway) above 60mph.

11. I agree. But you go to the western states or sometimes
anywhere else depending on time of day, it seems everyone is going 80+ except the semis

13. Well lowering the speedlimit would only punish the people who obey then.
If people are going 80+ then they should be pulled over based on the existing 65 or 70 limit

24. I don't push the car at the light or stop signs. I am very fuel conscious
even before the prices started going up. If we had prices here like they do in Europe, I bet people would ease up on that gas pedal

Why would we do it here?

21. I am sure it does
At high speed (say, 45mph plus) the biggest factor is wind resistance, which increases with the square of your speed. I dare say a 10mph cut in speed can make a significant saving on petrol.

26. Yes, I mean no offense, but it somehow tickled my funny bone.
The mental image of the day that law came into effect I think did it. People driving past cops pointing at the beer they are drinking to be precise.
Yeh, it's been a long day, O.K.? ;) ;):):)

23. My motorcycle's most efficient at 100 mph
About halfway through its power band. :o

It's tough, sometimes, though, to hit those kind of speeds in parking lots.

The 55-mph speed limit is insane in a nation like the US, and not just because the highways are built for 85-mph speeds. Out here in the West, it's particularly barbaric.

28. Depends on the place.
In Britain the accident rate is lowest on motorways (are these the same as American free-ways) which have the highest speed-limits. In these cases what is most important is relative speed - i.e., is one travelling faster or slower than those around one. But when one leaves these major trunk roads to places where pedestrians come into play then everything changes dramatically.

30. Use your cruise control people!
I keep my thruway speed at 72-74 (trooper safe speeds!) and I think a steady pace helps. I have accounts 250 miles away, I can't go 55! :scared:
