The world has stopped! I agree with Tucker Carlson
One of the cable networks is going to air a video game competition. Now, I'm not interested in video games BUT can you imagine how boring it would be to WATCH it? The country is officially brain dead.

3. It's about as boring as watching people play poker
And NBC Sports actually airs those snoozefests.

6. And that isn't all. Golf, Tennis, American Football, Australian Rules
Football, Australian Rugby League (Football, another type), Australian Rugby Union (Football, another type), all sorts of other shite.

Anything but soccer or cricket is a snoozefest. And only the good games of soccer are interesting.

10. We Disagree Terry
One of the attractions to poker and golf (for instance) as a television competition is that, unlike other pro sports, the VIEWER ACTUALLY PLAYS THE EXACT SAME GAME! Obviously, everybody isn't a Phil Ivey or Sammy Farha in poker, or a Tiger Woods in golf. But, they are playing the same game, under the same rules, and essentially the same conditions.

I can't watch the NBA as anything other than pure spectator, because even though when i was younger i played basketball, i've never been 6'9". I can't go to the park and play a game with alley-oops to be dunked by EVERYONE on the court.

I can't play football, like the guys on TV. First, you need 22 people, and a ton of equipment, even if you were willing to risk the injury. So, again, i'm pure spectator.

Same with baseball. To play the way the guys on TV do, you need a perfectly manicured field with 18 people, and umpires at every base. It's just not something that we can easily set up.

But, with things like poker and golf, those folks who actually do those things (weekend golfers, Thursday night poker players) can play the exact same game. So, the attraction to those things as TV events is rooted in the empathy it creates for the view.

4. I saw it on ESPN the other day.
The world championships of Madden Football. The one guy was talking about how he achieved his life-long dream by playing video games on the big screen in Times Square.

At the same time ESPN2 was showing the Japanese Viking Obstacle Course. Now that was entertaining to watch. Of course, they actually had to stop in the middle of the physical feats and answer a math problem before continuing.

7. Remember that game show in the 80's
where people had to play video games? That was odd.

8. I agree with Tucker on occasion
It is a bit scary. Just keep it quiet and don't follow his fashion sense and we will be alright. Oh, and that sounds like a real good use of TV time.

There's much more strategy going on than most people see.
