Small aluminum fishing boat
How much would one cost? And, I mean a small one, for use on a lake/pond... with a small electric motor. Anyone have any ideas?

3. Those look kind of tempting.
It'd be fun just to see what kind of reactions those would get on the lake. My kayak doesn't stand out. And our ocean boats really don't stand out because of all the yachts that harbor in Watch Hill, RI. However, my sisters and I have fun pulling up to the fanciest yachts, saying, "Pardon me, but do you have any Grey Poupon?" and speeding away. They always seem to get annoyed by this. However, my one (male) friend insists that he would never be annoyed by a boat of four girls, aged 18-23, pulling up to him wearing bikinis, even if they just asked him for grey poupon and jetted off.

4. The second guy has a pretty decent idea
That's the fanfold insulation you put under vinyl siding. At the time he built this, he probably paid $20 per bundle.

He then added a pawnshop trolling motor and battery, a lawn chair he already had...lots of good times there for way under $100.

5. You could probably get one with no frills
just boat, motor and trailer, for under $5000.

7. Less than a grand, I'd think
A 12-foot Lowe or Alumacraft will run you about $600.

You'll need to spend about $100 for the motor and battery. Add another $50 for a marine battery charger.

Twelve-foot boats are small enough to carry on top of your car, so figure about $75 for the cartop carrier.

Spend the rest on life jackets, flotation cushions, getting it registered, a good-size cooler...

Look at two other things: used boats, and the bass hunter line of fiberglass boats. Fiberglass boats have a huge advantage over aluminum for fishing: they don't transmit sound into the water (from you moving your feet, for instance) like aluminum boats do. (When you buy an aluminum boat in this area, generally the first thing you do is go to Home Depot or Lowe's to purchase a sheet of 3/4" pressure treated plywood at $38.00 a sheet. This also dampens the sound.) bass hunters (for some reason my uppercase b doesn't want to work--all the other letters do...) are fiberglass, made well and inexpensive.

8. Great -- I was told by someone $400-600....
Your estimate comes pretty close.
