the pot I smoke these days is much stronger than the pot I smoked back in the day, but that's just because I have better hookups these days. When you're a kid, you take what you can get, even if it's schwag.

That doesn't necessarily mean that pot in general is stronger, though.

7. IMO that's an urban legend

I think there's less crappy stuff available than there was when I was growing up - back then, "homegrown" meant something that tasted like dried oregano leaves. Now it means it came from someone's hydroponic garden.

But the stuff that's good is no better than the stuff that was good then (70's).
