Because I just rented a car with Sirius satellite radio, I was able to hear for the first time every day for a week
Little Steven's Underground Garage (Channel 25). Wow! I might have to invest in a Sirius radio, now. That's the most fun I've had listening to the radio since I was in my 20s and living in Boston. Back then, my favorite stations were WZBC (Boston College) in Brookline, WMBR out of MIT in Cambridge, and WFNX in Lynn.
If you don't know it, Little Stevie's Underground Garage plays a constant mix of the whole range of my very favorite American and British rock and roll: the earliest rockabilly, girl groups, indy label R&B, psychedelic proto punk, bubble gum, Iggy Pop, MC5, The Clash, The Ramones, White Stripes, early Beatles, early Stones, The Fleshtones, Chesterfield Kings... Never a dull moment. I had 180-something stations to choose from and I only moved it when my wife and daughter insisted we find out what else was on. (Nothing.)
I'm going to miss it. Great disk jockies (Martin Lewis, Handsome Dick Manitoba, Kid Leo, Andrew Loog Oldham, Joan Jett, Ko Melina... Little Steven himself did a fascinating hours-long interview with Donovan Liech.
So what's your favorite music station?
