Let's Make A DU BABY!
ok.

we all know that the freepers are reproducing like rabid wolverines, soooooooooo..... I propose we make the PERFECT DU baby. collectively, we can use ALL of the great traits of our beloved DUers to create the PERFECT LIBERAL generation.

let's make one, then 'tweak' our genetic choices and make some more. from there, THEY can reproduce and walla! we gots ourselves a WHOLE NATION of PERFECT DU peoples!

so, since i have done the "leg work" :P , it is up to YOU to decide what DUer traits should go into our new "bundle of joy".

we also need volunteers to carry our little 'experiment' to term so LINE UP! (be prepared because there may be a TON of work to 'endure' :P )

no easy feat i realize but LET'S MAKE THE NEXT GENERATION!! :D

volunteers? :bounce:

1. the du babe needs extreme breadth of knowledge (and history of)
a broad range of issues, and the way the rightwing works (organizing, use of propoganda, etc.)... I suggest the memory and analytical skills of NSMA.

9. MMM not sure what level you are working on here, but
I hope that reasonable and kind people have kids and teach them well and then the kids will hopefully have the tools to make the best choices. Unfortunately being kind and reasonable are not a condition of child bearing. I did at one point joke to some of my friends who had postponed childbearing until late in life, that those of us with liberal views probably should have kids so that the world would not just be filled with the children of the right wing. But how you are raised doesn't necessarily determine how your politics will be.

Kids are their own creatures and can and should! surprise you with their independence. I was raised by a Dem who voted Repub at times and a Repub who voted Dem most of the time, and one side of the family was active in Repub and one in Dem ward politics. Always made me laugh. My Grandmother hated FDR ( why I have no idea and I also remember watching the 68 or 72 Repub convention with her and her declaiming on this topic.) I was too young at the time to really ask her or understand why.

And I became very "liberal" more because my parents were open- minded and taught me to ask questions.

14. While what you say is correct...
I think matcom is doing the wishful thinking sort of things... ala... what characteristics would come together to make the 'perfect' president (as if there will ever be such a thing.) More light hearted rather than philosophical.

But on the real front - nurturing the skills and disposition for thirst for knowledge, desire to question and analyze that information and enjoyment of discourse on those ideas (the way to expand perspectives and consider aspects that might not initially come to mind) is a good way to nurture thoughtful, independent thinkers.

3. Unlike Freepers....
a DU baby would be blessed with a wicked sense of humor, and the ability to laugh at him/herself.
Many DU'ers have that trait..not going to single out anybody. It wouldn't hurt to add a touch of Irish ancestry to the mix, either:)

I have a headache.

Seriously, I already have 4 brainy, funny, outspoken, astute little people. I consider myself a mini-Rose Kennedy, doing my duty for the common good.
I'd even let John Kleeb can my daughter if he can hold out another 4 or 5 years. She's smart, pretty, and loves Kucinich (but she's two months shy of 12 at this point).
