2. It is a part of Texas.

If you were from Texas you would know Big Red.

http://www.bigredltd.com/

Big Red Soda
Big Red has become the dominant player in the “red“ category. For the unfamiliar, the taste is described as similar to a cream soda but also as a fruity, vanilla taste, similar to bubble gum. The fact is there is nothing to describe the unique delicious taste of Big Red. It just tastes “Red“ and if you haven’t tried it, you’re missing a real treat.

9. disgusting; icky sweet. Often described as Liquid Bubble Gum
and not exclusive to Texas although quite popular here.

I first encountered it in Southern Indiana 35 years ago

10. I have made this with Jello, but not
with the fruit and the Big Red. Sounds really sweet. Big Red is more like cream soda than anything else, isn't it?

13. Doesn't anyone make anything NOT out of a box or a bottle anymore?
Seriously, nothing about this chemical filled, artificial color, artificial flavor, toxic polyunsaturated fat laced plastic concoction can actually taste good.

Want a nice cake? Try this recipe instead:

Preheat your oven to 375.
Butter and flour a 9" round pan, line the bottom with parchment.

Peel 2 lbs of fresh, soft, sweet pears. Slice them in half length wise, core them, then slice width wise into 1 inch pieces.

beat 2 eggs and 1/4 cup of milk together, then add 1 cup of sugar and a 1/2 teaspoon of salt. When all is combined, add 1 1/2 cups of flour and stir together until smooth. Add in the pears, turn it all in together to blend.

Once blended, scrape it all into the prepared pan, and using your finger, poke small holes in the batter and put little dots of butter in -- not on... Add about 4 cloves, again, dotted into the batter.

Bake for about 50 minutes (no longer) until the top is lightly browned.

This is a lovely cake. It goes very well with a simple ice cream or sorbet... with a glass of chilled white wine, delish.

Now that's a cake!
