I Dodged A $524 Bullet Today!

I was heading back to work and my office called to tell me a new client has been waiting for me for fifteen minutes. I had forgotten about the appointment.

I pulled out of the parking lot I was in, put the pedal to the metal, changed lanes to get around a slow car, and sped through an intersection when the traffic light was yellow.

A cop was there and pulled me over.

I said, "Did I just run a red light?" He replied, "Yes, and you made an illegal lane change while speeding. You could have T-boned a car and ruined everybody's day."

"You are correct," I admitted. "I won't argue with you."

I then said, "Officer, 99.9% of the time, I drive perfectly."

"Oh," he retorted, "Where were you going?" I told him about the forgotten appointment.

"So you have a clean driving record?"

"Yes sir."

"Give me your license and insurance verification. I'm going to check your record."

He went to his car for a few minutes, came back to me and said, "$176 for running a red light, $172 for an illegal lane change, and $176 for speeding. Your record is clean. I'm going to let you go. I work here, downtown, most of the time and you had better not let me see you driving that way again."

"Yes sir," I sighed. He walked away and I took off, slowly. :)

14. Someone got pulled over in front of my house.

Two cops (from the next town over) pulled some kid with a new license over right in front of my house. They basically screamed at him for awhile then let him go. It appeared to be over the car's registration. Eventually, they told him to bring the car straight home and they wouldn't tow it or give him a ticket. I was just shocked at how much the cops were yelling and that they actually let him drive after it.
