Any Traffic fans here?
Not talking about this:

But this:

I think this was one of Stevie Winwood's best endeavors - great funky jams and psychedelic sounds with that voice with amazing range. Right now I have "Light up and leave me alone" as my earworm

ANyone else a fan of Traffic?

1. Yeah, but
I'm pretty sure Jim Capaldi did the vocal on "Light Up or Leave Me Alone." (Compare it to the vocal on "Rock and Roll Stew" on the Low Spark album.)

As I said in response to your post about finding John Barleycorn on vinyl, I taught myself to play the piano at the age of 16 using that record as my primary practice routine. To this day "Glad" is the trickiest piece I can play.

We're talking about getting a jam session together at my day job and, since everybody else is gonna want to play lead guitar, I'm assuming I'll end up playing keyboard. In my mind I'm shedding "Gimme Some Lovin'" and maybe "Low Spark."

6. Most of their stuff I have is on Vinyl
to be honest most of the time I listen to it was on MP3 or on vinyl but yesterday I actually bought my first Traffic CD which was the Gold Series (basically it's just some group that puts out Greatest Hits of all the best bands - it's well done and has everything).

9. Yup. Was really into them as a teen
in the mid-80s, when most of their stuff was out of print or hard to find. Needless to say I'm quite happy they've reissued most of it on CD now.

Plus, how could you possibly not like a band who had a percussion player named Rebop Kwaku-Baa?

10. Dear Mr. Fantasy
I love that song.

I won't purport to be a *fan* but I like what I've heard. Steve Winwood is generally cant-miss.

11. Jim Capaldi died last year? OH SHIT
I can't believe I missed that one. He died in January 2005. I always liked his stuff, and have always thought he's been underrated.

With two of the three core members dead, I doubt we'll see another Traffic reunion.

12. Here's a little song....
you can all join in....

40,000 headsman......

That was out when I first discovered, you know, the pot.....

More varied than Floyd...

Cooler than Cream... (The pants, man....)

Softer than King Crimson...

Tighter than a pair a jeans on Jessica Simpson....

One of the most uncelebrated band of the pop rock era....
