Behold the awesome powers of my handiwork:
Gabba Gabba Hey

It's Joey Ramone, in knit doll form. (He needs sunglasses but I don't have anything to make them out of yet.)

Anyhoo, he was in a book I had and I wanted to see if I could make him since I never made a doll before. Now that I know how to do it I want to make my own goofy dolls but I don't know who to make next. Any suggestions?

10. Ha-and I could make a Steve Jobs doll too, and they can duke it out
for the title of Nerd King once and for all.

The first thing I thought of, when I decided I wanted to make original ones, was one of James Frey (million little pieces guy) all covered in blood and puke, and then also a version of him on the Oprah couch getting called out on his bs. I don't know why I thought of that though. Maybe there was something on the tv about him at the time. Or maybe I'm just a weirdo. Either way.

2. You never cease to amaze me. That's AWESOME! And it looks JUST
LIKE HIM! I love that you knit. I wish I could do that. If I could knit, I would make a series of burlesque dolls, complete with tiny garters, real earrings, a mole on the face, and a tiny cigarette.

:applause: :yourock:

7. Ooh, that's a good idea!
The same book has a pattern for a Joan Jett doll that could be transformed into little burlesque ladies. :D

As if you couldn't knit. I just learned how in November fer cryin out loud!

Thanks for the high praise. It's a good thing "sugar" is in your name because you're so damn sweet.

12. Pleeeease do it. They'd have so much character.
You could put different expressions on their faces, they could come in assorted weights and attitudes, and you could advertise them on the web by assorting 5 or so around a miniature bar, arranged just so.

You could even make an "even-tempered bartender doll" as a background.

Man, I'd even help you for free with that one! Logo ideas, etc.

I can't knit b/c a lot of nerves in my left hand are dead from a boogeyboarding accident 2 years ago. How long did it take you to do that, anyway? Are you getting faster with experience? :D

19. Oh, that sucks. Sorry to hear that.
An even tempered bartender!
She just moved to the big city to find herself--and go to the best damn journalism school in Omaha. Little did she know she'd find herself slinging shots of peppermint schnapp's to a sextet of sexpots!

Oh man. My sides.

It didn't take all that long--a week and a half, maybe. I am getting faster, and as I work on different things I'm starting to see how all the different techniques work together. That's fun because eventually I'll know what I'm doing enough to come up with my own patterns or to change things around in patterns I already have.

I'll let you know what I wind up doing. There may just be a way to collaborate if you want.

22. "She longed to be a famous jewelry designer-
She designed earrings that looked like Ouija Boards. She used all the tools at her command. And yet, she tried too hard. Her public smelled her fear and after a burst of success, she sat on her laurels for two weeks. That was her undoing. Sara Lee and the internet were here only consolations. No networking hurts a person.

 She's a very good dancer and has millions of stories to tell. Listen closely, cause she's rather quiet.

34. There are two women in my stich and bitch that have nerve damage
in their hands, they said they were skeptical if they could do it, but when they tried it worked just fine. In fact, they said it helped a lot, increased their circulation or something like that. There are ways to knit that use the left minimally.

I love it too, I taught myself from a book in oct of 04- I am addicted now. Absolutely love it.

find a knit group in your area and ask someone to teach you, I taught a teenager at our last meeting. :-)

9. Yeah but then I'd have to look at him.
Although, it would be funny to make the whole gang and have them act out incidents from the past few years. There might be some theraputic value there. Hmmm...maybe I will go that route.

Eventually, anyway. :D
I don't want to try to sell it because it's not an original idea. However, if I can think of other people to do now that I have the basics down I might try to get a little show at a cafe somewhere or sell them at a little DIY art place.

 Oooookie dokie.

The pattern is in the book "Stitch and Bitch Nation." I don't think they're up online anywhere, but who knows, they might be. The book is pretty neat though because it also has instructions for a Henry Rollins, a Joan Jett, and these little toddler pants with a devil tail on the back.
