I need to clarify my views

Lately I have been called a DLC whore, a Freeper troll and one poster even said that I was doing the work of the RNC. I can see how some people might arrive at those conclusions, but if you take a cool look at my views on the issues you'll see that I have an unusual mixture of views that range from libertarian left to farther left than the Democratic Party. The views that I have that could be called "Right wing" are cast in left-libertarian logic, like my opposition to gun control. Furthermore, there is no obligation that someone on the Left oppose the death penalty, and my support for the death penalty for white collar corporate crime has kind of a leftists twist to it.

I've never liked whiny, infantile leftism that seems to celebrate victimhood, dependency and excuse making. I've always been more of a fan of the liberalism of FDR, Truman, JFK and on most issues, Bill Clinton.

So let me summarize my views here:

I favor Canadian style national health care.

I oppose gun control.

I am pro-choice on abortion through the full pregnancy, though I don't think taxpayers should have to foot the bill for women to get abortions.

I favor time limits for welfare, though provisions should be made to make exceptions under extenuating circumstances. Welfare programs must include free job training programs, education, child care, English classes

I favor the death penalty for child rapists (no, not for 18 year old kids who have sex with their 17 year old girlfriends) and white collar corporate supercriminals.

I favor gay marriage, gay adoptions and anti-discrimination laws protecting gays in the workplace.

I have opposed this war in Iraq since Day 1.

I supported military action in Afghanistan after 9/11, but Bush has rather fucked up that mission.

I oppose the military draft and bullshit politically motivated efforts to bring it back (go to hell Charlie Rangel!)

I support the state of Israel and Palestinian statehood.

Palestinian suicide bombers are terrorists. No excuses.

The Likud party is very dangerous.

Castro is a dictator, not a hero.

I like Hugo Chavez, and agree with him on most issues.

I am a proud protectionist. Repeal NAFTA! Cancel GATT!

Raise the minimum wage to $10 an hour.

I favor term limits for members of Congress.

I favor legalization of drugs (taxed, regulated and licensed).

I favor legalization of prostitution.

I oppose school vouchers, but I support the idea of private schools, and I think liberals should work on building private schools around the country.

I oppose this Bush "guest worker" bill as the exploitation of cheap labor by business.

I favor the closed union shop and the repeal of the Taft-Hartley act.

I am now opposed to the McCain/Feingold bill. It didn't work.

I am opposed to forced busing of schoolchildren out of their neighborhoods.

I favor free college tuition for all public universities in this country.

Repeal the Bush tax cuts that went to the wealthy.

All right. I'm done now. Maybe I'll think of more later.
